ramayana
Ramayana is one of the two great epic poems of ancient India, the other being the Mahabharata. The Ramayana was composed in Sanskrit by the poet Valmiki, probably no earlier than 300 BC. ramayana consists of some 24,000 couplets divided into seven books.
the poem tells the story of god rama’s royal birth in the kingdom of ayodhya, his tutelage under sage vishvamitra, and his success in bending shiva’s mighty bow in the betrothal tournament of king janaka’s daughter sita , thus earning it for his wife. When Rama is ousted from his position as heir to the kingdom, he retreats to the forest with his wife and his half-brother, Lakshmana, to spend 14 years in exile.

Sita adamantly rejects Ravana’s attentions, and Rama and her brother set out to rescue her from her. rama kills ravana and rescues sita, but she undergoes a trial by fire to rid herself of suspicions of infidelity. The Torah is a sacred text in Judaism. It is the substance of divine revelation to Israel, the Jewish people. tripiṭaka is the traditional term for the Buddhist sacred text. tripitaka consists of a Buddhist teaching basket. the teachings explain the relationship between the outer soul and the inner soul. is followed in china. the tripiṭaka was composed between about 550 B.C. c. and about the beginning of the common era. It was probably first written in the 1st century BC. The Dipavamsa states that during the reign of Valagamba of Anuradhapura, the monks who had remembered the Tripiṭaka and its commentary wrote them down orally in books, due to the threat posed by famine and war.
the mahavamsa also briefly refers to the writing of the principles and commentaries at that time. each Buddhist subtradition had its own tripiṭaka for its monasteries, written by its sangha. each set consists of 32 books, in three parts or baskets of teachings: vinaya pitaka (“discipline basket”), sutra pitaka (“discourse basket”), and abhidhamma piṭaka (“special [or additional] doctrine basket”). . surviving tripiṭaka literature is in Pali, with some in Sanskrit and other local Asian languages.
kojiki
kojiki; Records of Ancient Matters is a Japanese sacred text for the Shinto religion. The kojiki is an important documentation for the ceremonies, customs, divination, and magical practices of ancient Japan. The book includes myths, legends, and historical accounts of the imperial court from the earliest days of its creation to the reign of Empress Suiko (628).
Much of the Shinto religion is based on interpretations of the mythology contained in the kojiki. The book was written using Chinese characters to represent Japanese sounds, as no means were invented to record the spoken language of Japan. the religious and ethical values and morals of the kojiki were rediscovered and reassessed by moto-ori norinaga. he wrote the complete “kojiki annotation” in 49 volumes. Kojiki was first translated into English in 1882.
tao-te-ching
Tao-te-ching is the sacred religious text of the Taoism religion in China. the text was written around the 6th century BC. and was translated into English around the 19th century. The text spread widely in East Asia and is among the most translated works in the history of world literature. when it was first spread, the text was interpreted through the use of Taoist words and concepts. It consists of 81 chapters and poems. describes the way of life and freedom for desire.
The Tao-te-ching, together with the Zhuangzi, is a fundamental text for philosophical and religious Taoism. The text also strongly influenced other schools of Chinese philosophy and religion, such as Legalism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, which were interpreted through the use of Taoist words and concepts when it was first introduced to China. various artists, poets, painters, calligraphers and gardeners have used the tao-te-ching as a source of inspiration.
