one of the successful series of novels written by the author vannetta chapman is the ‘the pebble creek amish’ series, which consists of a total of 3 novels published between the years 2012 and 2013. the first novel in the series was published under the title ‘a promise for miriam’. It was published by Harvest Publishing in 2012. The plot of the novel is about the residents of the town of Pebble Creek and describes the romantic life of Miriam King, who is the main character of the novel. it also shows the caring and kind people in the community and the challenges they face from the outside world. people from the amish community come together to mingle with others and preserve the cherished customs of the plain. In the opening sequence of the novel’s plot, Miriam King is introduced as a 26-year-old school teacher who loves her students. She has not yet married because she found the man who would force her to leave the teaching profession at Plain School, located near the town of Pebble Creek. soon after, gabriel yoder enters her life with her daughter, a mystery and several challenges that she has not faced before. Gabriel is constantly haunted by his past and wants to live alone. rather, the warm and loving community that has moved to offer different plans for him and his daughter. He decides to repay the friendship and help he received from the residents of Pebble Creek after averting a nearby tragedy. Soon, she discovers that he can make a difference in people’s lives and begins to hope that a loved one will be back in her life. Miriam seems to be the perfect woman for her with her sensual beauty and her caring nature.
The second novel in the series was published in 2013 and was titled ‘A Home for Lydia’. The plot of this novel also depicts the loving and caring people of the Amish community in Pebble Creek. continues to show their togetherness as they face challenges and attempt to unite their non-Amish neighbors as well as preserve their own Plains ways. In the opening sequence of the novel’s plot, Aaron Troyer is introduced as a simple man interested in farming like his ancestors. But he is forced to oversee the family’s small group of guest cabins near Pebble Creek. This allows her to work with Lydia Fisher, the cabins’ housekeeper. She finds Lydia to be an outspoken woman, who seems to have strong opinions about the way guest cabins should be run. she desperately needs the job and therefore she wants everything to be perfect. Sparks begin to fly between the two, but when the cabins are robbed, Aaron thinks of nothing but Lydia’s safety. From there, they continue to work together to make the business profitable. however, they seem to be unable to find the identity of the person who robbed the cabins and there is a chance that he will do it again. Meanwhile, Lydia nurtures her dream of having her own house, which could be fulfilled by Aaron, as everyone else hopes.
