walmart photo offers one of the cheapest photo albums on the market. you can order an 8 x 8 hardcover book for $21.96. walmart photo doesn’t charge for standard shipping, but you might spend a couple of bucks in taxes. the price of additional pages depends on the size of the book you order. for an 8 x 8 book, you’d be looking at an additional $1.32 for each additional page. that’s pretty much in line with what we’ve seen with other providers.
If you’re looking for something a little smaller than a 4×4 minibook it might be as little as $10, while a 12×12 premium book (which is three times the size) will run around $60. there are a variety of size and price options in between, and you’re sure to find something to suit your needs. In true walmart fashion, there are always the coveted reversal prices to keep you interested, with continued sales.
while very cheap, we think something like shutterfly (opens in a new tab) offers better value, because for a few dollars more you get a much better end product.

the book we did with walmart photo was not the best. when placing photos in the online editor, we couldn’t get the cover image to fit inside the window. this resulted in the image appearing overly enlarged and extremely pixelated. some family members didn’t even appear on the cover.
Many of the images inside the book are also pixelated. In a blind scoring panel, our testers gave this sample the lowest print quality score of any book we ordered. the binding and cover were relatively solid, though the pages felt very thin compared to some competitors’ books. there is no cover sheet. The only good thing about the walmart photo, other than the same day pickup, is that they don’t print their logo anywhere on or inside the book.

Make sure all your images are of the best possible quality, otherwise your album just won’t look its best.

While Walmart Photo offers one of the fastest ways to print a personalized photo album, if you don’t want to print it right away at a store, you can also print it and ship it to your home. If you choose this route, the standard production time is two to three days on average. If you’re willing to pay more, you can choose from standard, two-day, and overnight shipping methods, so you can get your book quickly or cheaply. some of these services have been affected by covid, and same-day collection has been cut for the time being, although 24-hour delivery from your local store is still available.

walmart support options are limited. there is no phone number on the site; however, there is a live chat option. The site also includes a technical support email and features an FAQ section with common problems and solutions.
walmart has received some pretty bad reviews from users. Common problems people have faced have been the fact that there is not much customer support available when each individual store has to deal with their own photo orders. “I went to pick up [the photo book], but the employee couldn’t find it”, with a client who went so far as to say that “they will never use the photo center again”. This is especially helpful if you find yourself shopping at Walmart frequently. the online design interface doesn’t give you much creative flexibility and design options are limited. while still decent, the print quality of this photo album was the worst we ordered, and the paper quality was pretty flimsy, but the binding was sturdy.
