Ward Larsen is the best-selling author of suspense and suspense novels, having created two series: the “Jammer Davis” series and the “David Slaton” series. Larsen has also written a stand-alone book called Stealing Trinity, which is a historical fiction thriller set in World War II. Larsen has been nominated for the Macavity and Edgar Awards and has won the Florida Book Award twice. he is also a former u.s. Air Force pilot, and flew in more than twenty during Operation Desert Storm. larsen was also a federal law enforcement officer and received aircraft accident investigation training.
“The Perfect Killer” is the first book in the David Slaton series by Ward Larsen. The book is also Larsen’s first novel. Christine Palmer, a young doctor on vacation after completing her third year of residency, finds a man barely clinging to life in frigid waters while sailing alone in the Atlantic Ocean. There is more to this man than meets the eye, and she will regret helping him very quickly. the man’s name is david slaton, he’s a kidon. A kidon is a very dangerous, precise and highly trained Israeli assassin. this man is both hunter and hunted; making her mere presence with christine dangerous for her.

This book was well received by readers due to Larsen’s ability to draw readers into the book, the characters were likeable, and the book was hard to put down. some say that enough is said about the main characters to make them likeable. especially a scotland yard inspector, who some say could lead his own series. Readers compare him to Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, and Daniel Silva (especially the Gabriel Allon books). some of the readers don’t like that the good characters in the book never really get into dangerous situations, only situations that the reader knows (and can take comfort in) that whatever danger these characters might get into they will come out ahead. they also didn’t like that the villains didn’t fully emerge as full characters. some readers found the book boring, predictable, and lacking in original ideas. some have said that the book is an intermediate type of book, not the best, but not the worst either.
“The Assassin’s Game” is the second book in the David Slaton series by Ward Larsen. In this novel, David Slaton is living the good life, newly married (Dr. Christine Palmer, from the first book) and living in suburban Virginia. Slaton has given up his previous life of being an Israeli assassin and is now employed as a bricklayer, now going by the name of Edmund Deadmarsh. because of a brilliant (but mad) scientist, dr. ibrahim hamedi- in iran and a spy who has penetrated high into the mossad ranks, the israeli agency has only one choice. bring slaton back and have him take care of the problem for them. slaton has made a promise that he will never kill again (and his wife doesn’t want him to do the job either), but because his wife is being carried across europe after being attacked, his mind change. he must do the job if he wants to see his wife again.
Readers liked this book because of its ability to make the reader focus on nothing but this book until they are done with it, and because of larsen’s ability to surprise the reader with all the twists and turns. Fans of the book praised this installment in the series for Larsen’s style of writing and story development. Fans of the book also felt that they could tell Larsen was a good author from the very first pages and it allowed them to relax and enjoy the journey they were about to embark on. readers didn’t like that the book started to bog down and when they finished the book they didn’t like the ending very much as they saw the ending coming that was supposed to surprise them. more readers found that the book could have been more original and new, but it was fine for the plane ride they took. some readers found it full of clichés, nonsense, which made it impossible for them to finish the book.
“fly by wire” is the first book to feature jammer davis and was written by ward larsen. This series of novels is based on Larsen’s knowledge of being a pilot in the Air Force. a new plane, the c-500, fails and falls six miles out of the sky. He was heading from Europe to an airport in Houston. crashes in france, killing both pilots of the plane. Authorities in France take over the case and hand it directly to the right man for the job, Frank Jammer Davis. davis is a retired u. yes air force fighter pilot and part of the ntsb go team. he has built a reputation for getting things done and being tough on those who stop him from doing his job. he investigates the plane crash. If that wasn’t bad enough, suicide bombers are starting to blow up oil refineries around the world, crippling governments and economies by the pipes. he investigates further and discovers that the plane crash and bombings are linked in a massive conspiracy of vast proportions.
some fans thought this book drew them in, larsen’s wonderful storytelling, the premise that the plane crashed could easily happen in real life, and kept them interested in the story and davis’s ability to solve the crime. they also felt that at times the book gets technical and could be enjoyed by those who are also pilots and know a bit about how airplanes work. some readers found the characters and situations clichéd and the book boring, forcing the reader to put it down and read something else. some readers also found the plot slow for most of the book.
