j.k. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter series ended in epic fashion, with the Boy Who Lived heroically defeating Lord Voldemort and saving the Wizarding World! the series may be over, but the characters are very much alive in the minds and hearts of all who love them, and it’s completely natural to wonder what happened to your favorite harry potter character after the shocking events of harry potter and the deathly hallows!
Fortunately for fans who can’t seem to let go of the harry potter series, and I include myself in that category, j.k. Rowling has revealed a great deal of information in the years since the last book was published. In our latest post on The Blog That Must Not Be Named, we’re examining what happened to each of the major Harry Potter characters after the events of >the deathly hallows!

harry potter
We learned in the epilogue of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows that Harry went on to marry Ginny Weasley, and the couple eventually had two sons: James Sirius and Albus Severus, as well as a daughter, Lily Luna. Following Voldemort’s defeat, Harry decided not to return to Hogwarts and never sat his N.E.W.T. exams. Instead, the young wizard joined the Ministry of Magic as an Auror (dark wizard catcher), and was instrumental in changing the department after Voldemort’s defeat. At the age of 26, Harry was promoted to Head Auror and was the youngest wizard to ever hold the position.
The epilogue to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows also revealed that Harry helped care for Teddy Lupin, the orphaned son of Remus and Tonks, who fell during the Battle of Hogwarts. While Teddy was officially raised by his grandmother, the young wizard spent a lot of time with his godfather, Harry. JK Rowling also revealed that Harry returned to Hogwarts to ensure Severus Snape’s portrait was hung in the Headmaster’s office, although the decision proved to be somewhat controversial.
when it comes to harry’s relationship with the horrible dursleys, it is revealed that although harry does not keep in touch with his aunt and uncle, he remained on “christmas card” terms with dudley. Harry even took his family to visit Dudley when they were around.

ron weasley
We found out in the epilogue of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows that following the defeat of Lord Voldemort, Ron married Hermione Granger and had two children: Rose and Hugo Granger-Weasley. Ron joined Harry at the Ministry of Magic as an Auror (dark wizard catcher) and was instrumental in helping him overhaul the department. After two years as an Auror, however, Ron left the Ministry to help his older brother, George Weasley, with the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes joke shop.
ron was also named godfather to james sirius potter, the eldest son of ginny and harry. We also know that Ron got a Muggle driver’s license sometime after the Second Wizarding War, though it’s not clear when or why. he is the only known pureblood wizard to have obtained a driver’s license.

Following the events of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Hermione went back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to complete her education and sit her N.E.W.T. exams. After school, Hermione went to work at the Ministry of Magic in two departments, the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Throughout her time at the Ministry of Magic, Hermione fought for the better treatment of house-elves and worked tirelessly to eradicate outdated laws that were biased in favour of pure-blood witches and wizards. Hermione eventually became the Minister for Magic, the highest role in the Ministry of Magic, taking over from Kingsley Shacklebolt.
After Lord Voldemort’s defeat, Hermione married Ron Weasley and the couple eventually started a family, with Hermione giving birth to two children: Rose and Hugo Granger-Weasley. Hermione was also named godmother to Harry and Ginny’s first child, James Sirius.
We have also learned in the years since the release of harry potter and the deathly hallows that hermione translated the tales of beedle the bard into english, just as was the original written in runes. Along with Harry and Ron, Hermione appeared on Chocolate Frog cards.
neville long bottom
After the end of the second Wizarding War, Neville joined Harry Potter and Ron Weasley at the Ministry of Magic as an Auror (dark wizard catcher). The young wizard only held the position for a short time, however, as he was later offered a position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a Herbology professor.
Neville was a hero to many of the Hogwarts students, often sharing his experiences as a member of Dumbledore’s Army and showing off his Dumbledore’s Army coin, which he and the other members kept as souvenirs. Neville married Hufflepuff student Hannah Abbott, who was also a member of Dumbledore’s Army. For a while, the couple lived above the leaky cauldron, where Hannah worked as a housekeeper. Although the couple never had children, they are believed to live an extremely happy life.
After the events of the last book/movie, Neville kept in touch with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of Dumbledore’s army, eventually being named godfather to Harry and Ginny’s second son, Albus Potter.

luna lovegood
Following the shocking events of The Deathly Hallows and the defeat of Lord Voldemort, Luna Lovegood left Hogwarts and became a Magizoologist (someone who studies magical creatures), discovering and studying new species of magical creatures around the world.
luna met and married rolf scamander, the grandson of the famous newt scamander, while working as a magizoologist. The couple eventually had twin sons, Lorcan and Lysander, and we’re willing to bet they’re just as wonderfully quirky as their mother!
After her time at Hogwarts, Luna kept in touch with her old school friends, and was no doubt honored when Harry and Ginny decided to name their daughter Lily Luna Potter.
draco malfoy
As fans of the Harry Potter series will no doubt know, Draco Malfoy was extremely torn between the light side and the dark. While he attempted to kill Albus Dumbledore and participated in a number of Death Eater activities, he never fully sided with them and sat on the fence until the very end of the series. After Harry saved his life during the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco’s eyes were somewhat opened to the truth, and he began to see that his views on muggle born witches and wizards were extremely flawed. After all, the people Draco was raised to hate showed him a great deal of kindness and in Harry’s case, saved his life.

Although Draco and his parents were never imprisoned for their role in the Second Wizarding War, the young wizard carried the weight of his actions for the rest of his life. He eventually married Astoria Greengrass, the younger sister of Slytherin student Daphne Greengrass. together they had a son: scorpius hyperion malfoy.
Harry and Draco formed a civil relationship after Lord Voldemort’s defeat, as we saw in the epilogue, but the pair never became friends.
ginny weasley
After her time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Ginny continued her athletic passion and became a professional Quidditch player for the all-female team, The Holyhead Harpies. Ginnyand Harry continued to date following the events of The Deathly Hallows and they eventually tied the knot, although the exact date of their wedding is still unknown.
ginny played for the holy-headed harpies for several years before retiring from professional quidditch to start a family with harry. She gave birth to three children: James Sirius, Albus Severus and Lily Luna. Some time later, Ginny became the Daily Prophet’s Quidditch correspondent. While she was working for the popular wizarding newspaper, she covered the 2014 Quidditch World Cup in the Patagonian desert.
on september 1st 2017, ginny and harry took their children to kings cross station where james and albus boarded the hogwarts express and set off for a new year at hogwarts.
hagrid
Following the second Wizarding War, Hagrid returned to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to teach Care of Magical Creatures – which thanks to Hagrid’s love of horrendous beasts, undoubtedly put Hogwarts students in a great deal of danger.
hagrid’s relationship with madame maxime, the headmistress of the beauxbatons academy of magic, didn’t work out (no surprises) and the half-giant never married. However, he lived to a very good age (probably thanks to his giant genes), as the epilogue revealed that Hagrid was still teaching when Harry and Ginny’s son, Albus Potter, left for Hogwarts.
As he did when Harry first arrived at Hogwarts, Hagrid invited young Albus Potter to tea in his hut.
george weasley
After the events of The Deathly Hallows and the devastating death of his beloved twin brother, Fred, George went back to working at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, the joke shop he and Fred had created together. George never truly got over the death of his best friend and twin, and struggled to cope as Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes grew more and more popular. Eventually, George enlisted his younger brother, Ron, to help him run the shop.
george married his former classmate and captain of the gryffindor quidditch team, angelina johnson. The couple had two children: a boy named Fred and a girl named Roxanne.
