virgin river may seem like one of the silliest romantic dramas on netflix, but fans of the show know that it’s also packed with intrigue. Based on the books by Robyn Carr, the series centers on Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), who leaves her life in Los Angeles behind to work as a nurse in Virgin River. Mel falls for Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), a former Marine and the stoic owner of the town’s bar.
However, romance isn’t the only element of Virgin River that draws fans in, there’s also a plethora of mystery and secrets, including Jack’s gunshot. Now Virgin River showrunner Sue Tenney is hinting at who really pulled the trigger.

At the end of the second season of Virgin River, Mel walked into Jack’s bar to find him bleeding on the floor after being shot. as we learned in season three, although jack made a full physical recovery, his memories of that night were very hazy.

Now, Jack’s old friend and fellow ex-Marine Dan Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) has been arrested for shooting him. As season three came to a close, a gun was found in Brady’s car, though he insisted to everyone, including Jack’s sister Brie (Zibby Allen), that he is innocent. In fact, fans also think that Brady as the culprit would be too simple when it comes to wrapping up that story.
While Brady has certainly made some mistakes in the past, even Henderson, who plays Jack, doesn’t see him as the one who pulls the trigger. “I hope there is room for healing around the brady-jack relationship at some point,” he told tv insider. “There is a brotherly love there and I think the kind of bond that can only exist between people who have been in war zones together. it’s such an intense situation and that sense of connection [and] loyalty is very, very deep. It would be nice to see maybe some of that healed.” That would be especially difficult if Brady had been the one trying to kill Jack.”

Now, Virgin River showrunner and executive producer Tenney is also hinting that Brady might not be the real culprit in this situation. “The audience will be genuinely surprised who is behind all of this,” he told TV Insider.
so far, henderson knows who pulled the trigger and suggests virgin river’s audience will also learn the truth at the end of season 4, whenever netflix renews the series.

“I know,” he told entertainment weekly. “And the fact that he knows makes me feel like the audience is going to find out.” The actor explained that the writers almost revealed everything in season 3, but ultimately decided to wait until season 4. “It would be unfair to the audience not to have that outcome,” Henderson explained. “it would be a bit distasteful to follow them and then keep it a secret.”

instead of brady, there are other people who could have pulled the trigger. Calvin (David Cubit), the volatile drug lord of Virgin River, has always been at odds with Jack, but even he seems like an obvious choice. In fact, we’re thinking it might have been Mike (Marco Grazzini), an ex-Marine and detective friend of Jack’s who seemed desperate to handcuff Brady.
Then, there’s Charmaine’s (Lauren Hammersley) new husband, Todd (Patrick Sabongui), who seemingly came out of nowhere, married Jack’s pregnant ex-girlfriend, and fought him over custody of their unborn twins.
We won’t know more until virgin river season 4 debuts, but luckily it’s rumored that it’s already filming in vancouver.
