Duffy was born on August 6, 1955 in Londonderry as Sean Patrick Duffy. Over the years of his service with the Irish Police Department, Sean rises to the rank of Detective Inspector. he is depicted as a potentially rogue police officer. Sean has ties to MI5 and C6 military intelligence. he has a habit of getting drunk very often. Being the only Catholic in the Protestant housing estate, he has been advised to change his residence, but he does not pay attention to the written requests sent to him. Detective Sean Duffy is not one to trust with the key to the evidence room. he is resourceful and a very dangerous asset when it comes to killing criminals. his ruthless behavior has allowed him to make powerful enemies. Along with some influential friends and peers, Detective Sean Duffy is feared by many criminal lords.

The first novel in the series was titled “The Cold Cold Ground – The Irish Independent’s Veredict” and was published in the year 2012. The novel features Detective Sergeant Sean Duffy as the one who always gets into trouble. Set in 1981 Belfast, Northern Ireland, the novel offers the full characterization of detective Sean Duffy. he is a catholic by religion and a member of the ruc. The serial killer is considered to be a psychopath, as he plays with them after each murder. he leaves the occasional clue with some references to operas for the police to come after him. another murder takes place in the city when the wife on hunger strike is murdered. The murders seem unconnected at first, but Detective Duffy has to investigate both cases to discover the truth behind the murders. the situation in belfast out of control due to riots, hunger strikes, corruption and obscurity of crime everywhere. Soon, Detective Duffy is removed from the case and is tipped off by the Special Branch and Army Intelligence for his connection to the IRA. but, this does not prevent him from trying to solve the cases. he continues to dodge and defy the rules with the sole intention of bringing justice to the victims. he continually risks his girlfriend’s life and his own, but manages to bring the truth to light. he reveals that the murders are not homophobic, but an attempt by a criminal lord to cover up his crimes. The author has rendered the names of real people in the novel, including Freddie Scappaticci and Gerry Adams. He has been successful in depicting the actual setting of 1980’s Ireland when the atmosphere was not at all conducive to survival.

The second novel in the series was titled “I hear the sirens on the street” and was published in 2013. In this novel, Sean Duffy maintains his peculiar character represented in the first book of the series. he has become more cynical and wiser from his previous experience. he received the Queen’s Police Medal and a promotion from Sergeant to Detective Inspector. this remains for a short period of time as he is demoted back to the uniformed service for his insubordinate behavior and his chronic inability to stop trying to solve cases after being removed from cases. Detective Duffy’s life is beautifully depicted by author Adrian Mckinty. the feeling of him risking his life, looking for the bomb under his car, drinking heavily, and doing drugs resembles a real-life character. Sean often has cautious relationships with his colleagues and loved ones. he is also concerned about the daily turf wars with the special branch and the intervention of army intelligence to free suspects and destroy evidence. When Pat Finucane’s murder and Delorean’s tossing make headlines, Sean begins his chase to find a battered, headless, limbless body in the vacant lot. The site is close to where American adventurer Zachary Delorean is trying to develop a new exotic car that would cost Britain’s taxpayers millions of pounds.

duffy and his team are able to identify the body as that of a US Army officer working for the federal drug agency. With further investigation, Duffy learns of a couple of other murders and the role of a lonely and attractive widow along with a landowner. In the course of the investigation, Duffy loses his girlfriend who had revealed a toxic drug that can be obtained from a houseplant. it is revealed that the entire story is one of tax evasion and drug smuggling. Duffy faces conflicts with her superiors, especially Army and FBI intelligence and US Treasury officials. The story forcefully recounts the government’s futile attempts to provide jobs while at the same time describing the Delorean’s successful attempts to plunder the British treasury. Duffy moves to the United States in his attempt to stop criminal activities taking place in her country. The success of the series of novels brought prosperity to Adrian Mckinty. She has also won several awards, including the Barry Award and the Ned Kelly Award. He was even shortlisted for several other prestigious awards, including the CWA Steel Dagger Award and the Young Hoosier Award.
