this is one of the most acclaimed books written by alex erickson. Here, two best friends, Krissy Hancock and Vicki, make the decision to open a bookstore in her hometown of Pine Hills. Following Krissy’s father’s well-known mystery novel, they decide to call it “death by coffee.” as good as it sounds, none of them realize how apt the name is.
on day 1 of business, one of your clients named brendon lawyer drinks his coffee and immediately dies. scrutinizing his plight she realizes that he suffered from a peanut allergy but what is most surprising is how it could have happened when he only drank coffee. Another question is who could have stolen his allergy medicine cabinet from him?
With a deep love and desire for mysteries and puzzles, krissy lands to see officer paul danton and realizes that she and her neighbors aren’t too sad about mr. brendon surely one of them has to be the killer. This means that Krissy has to find out who is using her store to eliminate people. Will she make it?

2. death by tea: second series
In this series, the Mystery Seekers head to Pine Hills for the Book of the Year competition to be held at Krissy’s new store. Unbeknownst to everyone, the killer is in their midst with the sole aim of outwitting them all and also completely trashing Krissy.
Before two book clubs duel in the death by cafeteria, one of those who were supposed to compete turns up dead. he meets death by the silver teapot that is meant to be the winner’s prize. Almost immediately, Krissy is suspect number one, as she had been seen moving around in the wee hours of the night in dark clothing the night of the murder.
So, to clear his name, he decides to find the real killer and ends up meeting an old flame, Paul Dalton.
Even when Krissy and the officer have taken every measure to ensure no more murders are committed, she still manages to kill a competitor during the book competition before it has even started. With his antics threatening to close the cafeteria to death, it’s interesting to see how far he’s willing to go to make sure he gets what he wants.
Even he seems convinced that she is the one, as all the evidence points to her. With Officer John Buchannan, her personal nemesis, hell-bent on making sure he frames her for the murder, Krissy has to become a super detective to find this killer and clear her name.

krissy hancock: With all the murders going on in her store and the killer making it seem like she’s the one behind it all, it’s remarkable to see how she becomes a super detective. From all the lengths she’s willing to go to and how she’s prepared to deal with anyone who stops her from achieving her goals, they make it exciting. she is determined and has everything to lose when she fails to prove her innocence. As you watch her on this journey, you begin to understand what kind of person she is and identify with her situation.
officer john buchannan: as someone who has been employed by the state to ensure that justice is done and that the guilty are charged and kept behind bars to prevent them from harming anyone, your job is very simple, or No? As he struggles to find everything he needs to frame Krissy for the murder, he finds it difficult to do his job while the person he believed to be the killer is also trying to prove his innocence. the tail twists of how things go on his adventure and the people he uses to get what he wants make him quite the hunter. he is the law and the law must be followed no matter who you are.
The Killer: Alex Erickson’s portrayal of this character is amazing. his cunning skills and how he manages to dodge everyone and still manages to kill people in pine hills is remarkable. Even when Krissy and the officer have taken every measure to ensure no more murders are committed, he still manages to kill a competitor during the book competition before he even starts. With the antics of him threatening to close the cafeteria to death, it’s interesting to see how far he’s willing to go to make sure he gets what he wants.
although the second series of death by tea has not yet been published, its plot generates a wonderful expectation seeing the success of alex erickson’s first book. his writing prowess is nothing short of amazing. his depiction of the characters and how they all interact without the knowledge of who the killer’s next victim will be is quite remarkable.
erickson has also gone a step further to show the killer’s mind working against krissy’s and it’s up to you to find out who will outsmart the other as you read on as they are both chased by the officer. This bookstore cafe mystery is one where you can’t see what’s coming next. no shortage of suspects in this story, funny scenes, coffee, bumbling amateur detective, it’s great for afternoon reading. contains the perfect combination of humor and mystery.
