The Land of Stories is a series of children’s fiction novels written by famed singer, actor, and author Chris Colfer. There are total 5 books in the series of which the first four were published between the years 2012 and 2015. The fifth novel in the series is about to be published in the year 2016. All the novels in the series feature the life story. of the twins alex and conner bailey, who are also the main characters of the series. The first novel in the series was published under the title ‘The Land of Stories: Spell of Desire’. It was published in 2012 by the New York-based publisher Little, Brown and Company. The novel’s plot follows the magical journey of twins Conner and Alex Bailey as they fall through a magical book into another dimension. As they move into the new dimension, they find all the famous characters from the fairy tales alive. the treasured book the twins go through seems to have some mysterious powers in its stories. When Conner and Alex leave their real world, they find themselves waking up in a strange world that seems to be full of magic and wonder. Soon the twins come face to face with all the fairy characters from the treasured book they grew up reading their entire lives. In the opening sequence of the novel’s plot, the worlds of twins Conner and Alex Bailey seem to be turned upside down as they indulge in a book of magic.
Their grandmother gives them the precious book about fairy tales. when they start reading the book, they become aware of the fact that their worlds are going to change suddenly and they are going to enter a world that they had never imagined. When the twins enter the land of stories, they meet all the fairy tale characters they have been reading about during their childhood. but soon the two discover that the fairy tales they seemed to know so well don’t end the same way they’ve read about them. Furthermore, the stories do not end in the magical land of the new world. the twins learn of a fugitive named Goldilocks. Plus, they find out that Queen Cinderella is pregnant and Little Red Riding Hood has a kingdom of her own. After experiencing the different colors of the magical world, the twins desperately want to return home to the real world. but they seem to be chased by the evil queen who seems to have some legendary powers and it will be interesting to see if they succeed in finding a way out of the magical world of fairy tales or fall prey to the evil queen’s deadly intentions. Over the course of some subsequent events, Conner Bailey and Alex Bailey encounter a series of wolves, witches, trolls, and goblins, who make them realize that getting back to their normal lives will be much more difficult than they imagined. In addition to the print version of the novel, author Chris Colfer has also recorded an audiobook featuring his voice. the novel was also translated into several foreign languages, including Italian, Hebrew, Portuguese, Russian, French, Greek, and Dutch, and sold multiple copies in print around the world.

the second novel in the series was published with the title ‘the land of stories: the return of the sorceress’ and continued to describe the lives of the twins alex bailey and conner bailey, who are the main characters of the series, in a magical world of fairy tales. It was published by Little Brown Books in 2013. In the opening sequence of the novel’s plot, it is described that the evil sorceress who had cursed Sleeping Beauty returns after hiding for decades, but this time she has come with intending to have his revenge. Not since their adventures in the first novel in the series have Conner and Alex Bailey visited the magical world of Storybook Land. but during one night, they learn that their mother has been held captive by the famous sorceress. Now, the twins must once again find a way to the mysterious world of the land of stories to save their mother from the evil sorceress. however, her grandmother does not approve of the idea of returning to the magical world of another dimension, especially after remembering everything they had to face during their first visit. But, the twins are determined to rescue her beloved mother and also to save the magical world of fairy tales from the greatest threat of the evil sorceress. when the twins return to the mysterious world of storybook land, they don’t find it to be the same happy world they had left at the end of the first novel in the series.
The entire magical world of fairy tales seems to live in fear of the return of the evil sorceress, who has come out of hiding to take revenge on the world of fairy tales. The evil hands of the Enchantress reach the peaceful worlds of Conner Bailey and Alex Bailey, and kidnap her mother. Despite her grandmother’s repeated warnings, the twins are forced to defy her orders and enter the magical new world of fairy tales to rescue her mother. On their mission, they get the help they need from the queen Little Red Riding Hood, who appears to be reluctant to help at first, but agrees to help in the end. Outlaws from the fairy tale world, Jack and Goldilocks also help the twins in their determined efforts to save their mother. even the old amphibian and one of the twins’ close friends, froggy also gives them a hand and tries to prove himself in every way he can. The novel appears to be an action-packed thriller and a perfect sequel to the first novel in the series, which became a New York Times bestseller. The novel’s plot seems to be fraught with danger at every turn as twins Alex Bailey and Conner Bailey’s journey takes them to magical and deadly places never imagined throughout the novel.
