then you’ll want a book that covers all parts of the exam text, which means fairly detailed sections so you can look up facts and questions you may have. current pediatric diagnosis and treatment is pretty concise, or you can use your trusty nelsons. 2 other books you might want to consider include Laughter to Pass the Board of Pediatrics (old edition review) (new edition here) and Board of Pediatrics Review (if you like graphs and charts). The Laughing Books is an annual favorite and about half of those interested in pediatric forums buy this book. it will definitely give you a score for at least some exam questions, and probably many more. It’s also an easy read!

Probably the heaviest sections of the test tend to be the normal growth and development sections, where you’re expected to remember at what age children can draw particular shapes, or when they can stack blocks up to 7 cubes high , etc. Another popular section each year is Infectious Diseases. especially learn about its arthropod-borne diseases. Chronic asthma management is also tested according to NIH guidelines.
