5 High Fantasy Books if You Loved the Wheel of Time TV Series – Simone and Her Books

Happy Wheel of Time Day! if you’re anything like me then you probably became obsessed with this show a few years back when they announced it would be a show. but the happy day is here and I know we’re all going to run and see what it’s all about.

I’ve been reading lately that the show is “the next game of thrones”, which is my least favorite way to describe any big fantasy. in fact it doesn’t make sense for the wheel of time because the books written by robert jordan predate game of thrones. in any case, game of thrones is the next wheel of time.

You are reading: Books like wheel of time

the wheel of time show combines the first three books in the series, but I highly recommend you check out the first one, the eye of the world. it’s an amazing novel and if the show wasn’t based on these books i would have added it. but if you’d rather read something else, here are some other great books to read after you finish the wheel of time!

the lord of the rings by j rr tolkien

This one isn’t surprising, especially since The Eye of the World is an homage to Tolkien’s work in creating this genre of book. filled with reluctant heroes, adventures across massive landscapes, the deep story of a world beyond what you read on the page. no wonder robert jordan felt the need to honor the page.

one ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all and bind them in the dark In ancient times, the rings of power were created by the elven smiths, and sauron , the dark lord, forged the one ring, filling it with his own power so he could rule all others. but the one ring was taken from him, and though he searched for it throughout middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages, it fell by chance into the hands of the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins. From Sauron’s stronghold in the dark tower of Mordor, his power spread far and wide. Sauron gathered all the great rings for himself, but he always searched for the one ring that would complete his rule. When Bilbo turned 111, he disappeared, bequeathing his young cousin Frodo the ruling ring and a dangerous quest: travel through Middle-earth, deep in the shadow of the dark lord, and destroy the ring by throwing it into the cracks of the earth. perdition. The Lord of the Rings tells of the great quest undertaken by Frodo and the Fellowship of the Ring: Gandalf the Wizard; the hobbits merry, pippin and sam; gimli the dwarf; legolas the goblin; boromir of gondor; and a tall, mysterious stranger named strider.

the way of kings by brandon sanderson

robert jordan sadly couldn’t finish his epic series before he passed away. however, brandon sanderson was appointed to finish it after his death. The last two books in the Wheel of Time series were written by him, but Brandon Sanderson is also a great author by his account. his series, the storm file, is only in his fourth book, but i really recommend the way of kings to keep the wheel of time turning.

I think of Wheel of Time as a character development story. follow these five friends and watch as they go from being naive youngsters to becoming the heroes of their time. Of course, there’s a certain reticence to that position on the part of each of them and I thought the assassin’s apprentice was a great story to complement that theme.

evan winter’s fury of dragons

Of course, if you’re the chosen one, it comes with a lot of responsibilities. the chosen trope is huge on the wheel of time and is also big on the fury of dragons. I highly recommend this one, especially since Evan Winter was inspired to write the book from him reading Robert Jordan when he was a kid.
