brian shea is an award-winning, best-selling American author, best known for the “nick lawrence” and “rachel hatch” series of novels. shea spent much of his life serving the local community and his country. he was in the united states navy, where he served for several years before retiring and went on to work for more than ten years in the police force. As a police officer, he served for more than a decade in Connecticut and Texas, rising to the rank of detective. between careers, he was also a fifth-grade school teacher, which he did for five years. he has said that although he spent much of his life in the military, he was always in love with books. he fell in love with reading for the first time when he read “the outsiders” by s.e.
