cathy lamb is an american best-selling author born in newport beach, california. her childhood was full of surprises and creativity every day as she mastered the art of catching butterflies in a bottle, riding a skateboard and riding a bike with no hands. At the age of ten, Lamb moved to Oregon with her brother, two sisters, and two dogs before she could fulfill her dream of becoming a surfer’s bum.

Lamb became a published author in 2007 when her first novel, Julia’s Chocolates, was published. since then more than ten books have been published under her name.

In this book, the author introduces her main character, Julia Bennett, a 34-year-old single woman who is going through a major crisis. Her past is problematic as she grew up with an abusive mother who was addicted and slept with different men. her mother neglected all of her duties and her responsibilities towards her, and occasionally brought in some of her boyfriends who physically abused julia or tried to get intimate with her.

julia would hang out at the park or the library occasionally spending nights out when things got out of hand at home. Her teachers and supporters bought her clothes and food since her mother didn’t care about her at all. one of the brightest moments in julia’s life was when she spent time with her aunt, lydia in oregon most summers. She also apologizes to Julia for not doing anything to free her from her abusive mother. Julia then meets her aunt’s friends who have secrets from her, and Julia finds out about her as she gets to know them. Ella Julia soon gets a job delivering newspapers and becomes involved with a man. but this time she is afraid of getting too close to a man because of her past with an abusive man, and she fears that robert will come after her. However, Dean supports her and urges her to be less fearful and more bold and proactive. From time to time, Julia helps her aunt with farm work, such as taking care of farm animals, and she also makes chocolates for friends and family during her spare time. she is also experiencing panic attacks from her past experiences.

julia gets another job at a local library where she meets two brothers, carrie and shawn lynn, two brothers whose home situation is very similar to hers with her mother. she helps them by bringing them clothes, food and calling social services that take no action until the day the two brothers receive the beating of their lives by one of her mother’s boyfriends.
