Holidays are a fun theme for book clubs. In addition to getting together over the book everyone chose, they can have a white elephant gift exchange, enjoy tasty cookies and/or fun cocktails. It’s a perfect way to end the year.

and while there are more books centered around halloween, there isn’t much about thanksgiving. but when it comes to the holiday season, there are plenty of books! you have the old classics but also quite a few new ones. in fact, there are so many releases this year that I wrote a post dedicated to them.

I quite enjoy reading Christmas books, so I wanted to put together a list of books I’ve read in the last two years that I think would fit right in for the December book club meeting.

laurie is pretty sure that love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere else except in the movies. But then, through a steamy bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man she knows instantly he’s the one. His eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic…and then her bus drives away.

Sure that they are destined to meet again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and coffee shop in London looking for him. but she doesn’t find it, not when she matters anyway. Instead, they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend, Sarah, giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man on the bus. would be.

What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack are ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, paths not taken and destinations reconsidered. one day in december is a joyous, moving and immensely moving love story to escape to and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns on the road to happiness.
