The first novel in the Coffeehouse Mystery series was published in 2003 by Berkley Books. it was titled ‘for what reasons’ and described the life story of the main character, clare cosi. Clare is the manager of an iconic coffee shop called Village Blend located in New York City’s Greenwich Village. the plot of the novel is set in east hampton and new york in the united states. In the opening sequence of the novel’s plot, Clare arrives at her coffee shop as usual, but this time something bad has happened. The coffee shop’s assistant manager is found dead in the back of the Village Blend warehouse. the police appoint a pair of detectives to investigate the murder of the assistant manager, who conclude after investigation that there was no foul play or forced entry. therefore, they conclude that it is an accident and appear to close the case. However, Clare Cosi doesn’t seem convinced by the detectives’ work. Her early days were not very happy as she had to leave her husband due to an unhappy marriage about 10 years ago. because of that, she also had to leave her beloved job as manager of the village mix at that time. during those 10 years. She was happy living a lonely life with her daughter and raising her in suburban New Jersey.

Now that her daughter has grown up and gone to school, Clare’s life is very peaceful again. the owner of the town mix, the lady, convinces her to go back to her old job as manager of the cafeteria which she agrees to. when she opens the cafeteria door on her first day back at her old job, she finds her assistant manager unconscious of her on the floor of the cafeteria shop. The assistant manager was a beautiful young lady named Annabelle Hart. Around her dead body, coffee grounds were scattered all over the place. Clare takes Annabelle to the hospital, after which a pair of detectives arrive at the diner to investigate the crime. Since they find no clues related to a stranger committing the crime with forced entry, they declare it to be an accident. After the detectives leave the cafeteria, Clare begins to wonder if it really was an accident or if someone is trying to hurt her. she starts asking questions about the misplaced things in the store and wonders if anyone else is in danger. she also seems to be attracted to detectives.

The second novel in the series was published under the title “Through the Grinder”. It was published in 2004 by Berkley Books. The novel goes on to describe the difficult life of the main character, Clare Cosi, who works as the manager of the coffee shop called Village Blend. In the novel’s opening sequence, Clare seems to be starting her new life in New York City in the right direction along with Ella’s eldest daughter Joy de Ella. Investigations lead them to Bruce Bowman as the prime suspect, who unfortunately holds a special place in Clare’s heart. he was considered a perfect man with good looks and effective personality, but the women who entered his life were found dead one after another. Now, Clare seems to be in a dilemma between suspecting that Bruce is the killer or risking her heart and her life with him.
