Despite his unmistakable success throughout Germany, it was only in 2002 that his works began to be translated into English. The first of all his books to translate into English was Herr der Diebe in the year 2002. The book was released as The Thief Lord by Scholastic and made it to the New York Times bestseller list at number 2. staying there for 25 weeks. Another piece of work from him was the Dragon Rider fantasy book which remained on the New York Times bestseller list for 78 weeks in 2004.

The first German version of this book was published in 2007. The English version of the book was published in 2008, as was the American version. by the name of her cornelia funke, the fans of her have a general recognition as funkies.

the novel inkheart was so exciting that cornelia funke decided to publish a film adaptation of it on which she worked as a producer. another series of her books was the mirrorworld series (reckless) with the sequel getting its publication in the united states in april 2013.

cornelia funke had her eye on starting a family and as such, in 1981 she married rolf frahm. the two had to wait until eight years later to be blessed with their first child. In 1989, they were blessed with a daughter, Anna, and a son, Ben, to come five years later, in 1994. For 24 years, the family lived in Hamburg, and in 2005, they moved to Beverly Sierras. They lived there for a year, but sadly, in March 2006, her husband, Rolf Frahm, died of cancer.
