Hoping to make something of his writing talents, Sheldon headed off to Hollywood at the age of seventeen. His efforts were considered almost futile, but she managed to get a job reviewing material destined for film production. this would earn him $22 a week. she would also write her own scripts at night. In 1941, she was lucky enough to sell ‘Southern Panama’ for $250. Mr. Sheldon also served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. In 1945 he married his first wife, Jane Harding. they separated in 1948 after realizing that their marriage had been a mistake. In 1951 he married Jorja Curtright with whom he had a daughter, Mary Sheldon who also became a novelist. His thirty-year marriage ended when his wife died in 1985 after a heart attack. In 1989 he married Alexandra Kostoff. Sheldon was a hero in his own right who overcame bipolar disorder and survived a suicide attempt at age seventeen. For most of his life he resided in Palm Springs, California. Following complications from pneumonia, he passed away at Eisenhower Medical Center. still, the legend of sidney sheldon lives on.

sheldon had a stint in hollywood before his brief career in the military. His unit disbanded before he could gain experience and he moved to New York City. He continued to write screenplays providing such content for Paramount Pictures and MGM. At the same time he also wrote musicals for Broadway. He established himself as a prominent writer, drawing the attention of Hollywood. Shortly after, he left to seek another opportunity in Hollywood. His prowess manifested itself on Broadway when he participated in the writing of ‘Jackpot,’ ‘Dream With Music,’ and ‘Redhead,’ which won a Tony Award.

In the early 1960s, the popularity of television increased at the expense of the film industry. Sidney Sheldon decided to change his approach thinking that television had more money. Her first television series was The Patty Duke Show which ran for seven years. While in this, she also wrote five seasons of I Dream of Jeannie and seventeen episodes of another series, Nancy.

In 1969, Sheldon decided to try writing novels. this was the beginning of a series of timeless literary collections that she wrote by dictating to her secretary every morning while she handled her television job in the afternoons.
