David Housewright is an award-winning American author of the crime fiction and mystery fiction genres. he was born on february 7, 1955 in st. Paul, Minnesota, United States. David’s crime fiction writing has been so successful that it has drawn comparisons to famous crime writers such as Ross Macdonald and Raymond Chandler. he has written two series of novels in his entire career as an author and both have been very popular. The first series titled Mac Mckenzie Series consists of twelve novels while the other series titled Holland Taylor Series consists of three books so far. Most of the novels written by David are set in and around his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota, United States. The success of David’s novels has allowed him to be honored with prestigious awards such as the Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America as well as several Minnesota Book Awards. Due to his experience writing crime novels, David was also elected President of the American Private Detective Writers Association in 2014. Before becoming a writer, David used to work for several Twin Cities advertising agencies as a creative director and copywriter. His dedication and determination in his work earned him a number of industry awards, including the Clio, Silver Microphone, Communication Arts, etc. After that, David changed his career path and began working as a news and sports reporter for a number of daily newspapers through summer internships. While working as a news reporter, David honed his writing, interviewing, editing, and research skills. After becoming a successful novelist, David was invited to teach at the University of Minnesota, a course related to the modern American mystery novel. Aside from that, David also works as a writing instructor for a literary center in Minnesota. Through his writing, David is well known for characterizing the fictional characters of Rushmore Mckenzie and Holland Taylor. mckenzie is described as a former cop and current millionaire, while taylor is depicted as a former cop and current private detective.

Paul, Minnesota and is about the life of a former police officer turned private investigator named Holland Taylor. the first novel in the series was titled penance. It was published in 1995 by Berkley Publishing. The plot of the novel opens with the introduction of Holland Taylor as a private investigator and former police officer. Being a former police officer, Holland was aware of the fact that he was being used by senior officials at Police Headquarters. His former commanders at the police station forcefully asked him to investigate a murder case. While hanging out with the important clues related to the murder case, officers from police headquarters also connect Holland to the case. Holland was reluctant to investigate the murder case at first, but later agrees and goes ahead with the investigation. he is contacted by carol catherine monroe to help her spread a new scandal that could damage her image in the media. However, when an innocent campaign worker is brutally murdered, Holland Taylor is furious and heartbroken. she learns from the incident that some sins can never be forgiven or forgotten, and becomes determined to find the real killer. The novel was nominated for the Shamus Award for Best First Novel by a Private Investigator in 1996. It even won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel in 1996.

The second novel in the series was titled “Practice for Cheating.” This novel was published by Foul Play Press in the year 1997. The novel continues to deal with the life of private investigator Holland Taylor. The novel’s plot begins with Taylor’s past life. he is described as a former police officer turned private investigator. taylor has an african american partner who takes care of him in times of emergencies and high contacts in the police. Apart from this, he also has a smart woman in his life who always tries to show him the right way to go. Taylor’s habits include drinking exotic coffee, enjoying a specialty brand of local beer, and practicing martial arts. Taylor’s father asks Taylor to help an elderly neighbor recover her life savings from an investment adviser, who has stolen it. To help old lady Taylor enlists the help of a computer expert to harass the counselor. however, things take an ugly turn when several shots are fired. the novel was successful in a short period of time and won the minnesota book award in the category ‘mystery & detective category in 1998.
