She was born in the year 1947 in the United States and used to write her novels on the subject of historical romance at first. She was in the year 1986 when she started writing Christian fiction novels. Ella Francine is best known for writing the inspiring novel Love Redeemer. one of the other novels written by her, el lat sin eater has been adapted into a feature film. Francine was born to a police officer father, while her mother was a nurse. she had dreams of becoming a published author since her childhood. With that in mind, she got admitted to the University of Nevada in Reno and graduated from there with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and English. After completing Ella’s graduation, Ella Francine began working as a newspaper reporter. she used to write obituaries and various stories related to the interest of humans. she did not attempt anything big regarding her dream of becoming a novelist until her marriage. It was due to her mother-in-law, thanks to whom she francine developed an interest in romance novels. She lent some of her romance novels to Francine and she was so impressed with her stories that she decided to try writing a novel herself in that genre. As a result, she wrote and sold her first manuscript in 1976 and continued to write historical romance novels in the following years. When Ella Francine decided to write novels on the subject of Christian fiction in the year 1986, she found it difficult to develop the plots of her new novels in the first three years. Ella Francine thought of spending her time reading the Bible and began to develop various plots. Over the next several years, Francine Rivers kept her focus on writing Christian novels, and when the first novel of the new genre was published in 1991 titled ‘Redemptive Love’, she saw it as a statement of her faith. The novel describes the life story of a prostitute named Angel, who eventually reforms and converts to Christianity with the help of the love and stoic patience of Michael Hosea, who was a frontier farmer.

After the success of her first novel, Francine continued to write novels based on the inspirational fiction genre. She says that she wanted to illustrate the preaching of Christ to deal with the difficult problems of life and write realistic novels based on them. Ella Francine did not want to republish her previous romance novels and therefore she had bought the publishing rights to prevent them from being published again. however, some of her previous novels have already been re-released and distributed in bookstores. francine rivers has written a total of 4 series of novels in her career, one of which is the mark of the lion series, which consists of 3 novels published between the years 1993 and 1995. the first novel in the series is titled ‘a voice in the wind’ which was published in 1993 by tyndale house publishers. the plot of the novel deals with the main characters atretes, julia valerian, marcus lucianus valerian and hadassah. The initial plot of the novel shows the story of Hadassah, who is a young slave of Christian-Jewish origin in the Roman Empire. she is captured by the Roman soldiers and all her family members are killed by them. she was forced to work as a slave for julia, who is a spoiled roman. As time passes, Julia begins to trust Hadassah due to her faithful and kind nature. Initially afraid of many things, she later gains the courage to tell everyone about the god she worships. Meanwhile, she thinks her love for Julia’s brother, Marcus, was Satan’s trick to turn her away from God. but marcus seems to love her from her heart and hopes that she loves him the same way. Hadassah’s faith in Christianity is challenged throughout the novel, but she sticks with it and eventually gets over her harsh life as a slave.

The second novel in the series was published in 1994 by Tyndale House Publishers and was titled ‘An Echo in the Dark’. the novel continues from where the first novel in the series had left off, and revolves around the same set of characters. In the opening sequence of the novel, Hadassah is thrown in front of the lions because of her faith in Christianity. When a young doctor appointed Alexander Seekers for a body to examine him and conduct his studies to strengthen his knowledge as a doctor, he chooses Hadassah’s body. however, he discovers that she is alive. he saves her from her and takes care of her until she regains her health. he gradually becomes able to come out of her crippled state and begins to walk and talk. learning that hadassah has died, marcus decides to visit israel and study about her god. on the other hand, julia contracts a fatal disease due to her sexual behavior and is on the verge of death. Learning of her miserable condition, Hadassah decides to take care of her illness. however, she develops feelings for alexander and confesses to him before leaving. Seeing Julia in her dying state, Hadassah feels sorry for her and forgives her for throwing her to the lions because of her faith in Christianity.
