the author george macdonald was born on december 10, 1824 in aberdeenshire, scotland, and died on september 18, 1905 in surrey, england. his father (who was a farmer) was part of the glen coe macdonalds and comes from a family that suffered in the massacre of 1692. his parents were readers and his mother, in particular, received a classical education and learned many different languages. /p>

In addition to writing, he also worked as a poet and a Christian minister. He is a pioneer in fantasy literature and was the mentor of Lewis Carroll (fellow author who wrote the “Alice in Wonderland” series). In 1850, he was appointed to the position of pastor of the Trinity Arundel Congregational Church. “The Princess and the Goblin” is the first novel in the “Princess Irene and Curdie” series and was released in the year 1872. Princess Irene lives in a huge castle which is located in the lonely and wild region full of of mountains.

“The Princess and Curdie” is the second novel in the “Princess Irene and Curdie” series and was published in the year 1883. Princess Irene’s great-grandmother has a job for Curdie that is going to be difficult for him. .

some liked this one a bit more than the first book in the series. fans of the novel found this to be a great story and enjoyed reading it with their children. there is something to think deeply about or that speaks to them. Some like the friendship that grows between Lina and Curdie to be something wonderful and beautiful to watch. Some find Macdonald’s work simply wonderful and felt that few authors today could touch this author’s solemn beauty.

“Phantastes” is a novel by George Macdonald that was published in the year 1858. It begins the day after Anodos turned twenty-one. he finds an elderly fairy (which he discovers she might be her grandmother) in a desk. To open the desk, Anodos uses a key that he inherited from his father. he is shown a place called fairyland in a vision and wakes up the next day to find her room turning into a forest. is located in the land of fairies.

He meets a mother and daughter who warn him about two trees (the alder and the ash), which are trying to destroy him. someone tells him that tree spirits can leave their hosts and roam the land of fairies.

He roams the world of fairies, who live in flowers, which shine, but will die if the fairies leave them.
