Speaking about what attracted him to a multiple Netflix deal, Harlan Coben told Deadline that it was all about the ability to tailor stories in a way that appealed to him. “If I was trying to do TV series 20 years ago, which I didn’t do, the episodes would have to be 40 minutes, start with a crime, end with a crime, 22-episode seasons, that wouldn’t fit with what I do. netflix does.
“[Gone Forever] is five episodes, April Fools is eight, some episodes are 40 minutes, others 50 minutes. For my kind of storytelling, the broadcast fits.”
he continued, “they’re also doing some really cool stuff with their marketing. they’re changing the banner you’re seeing on the platform for new people to see. I’m a guy who wants people to watch my shows. that sounds obvious, but a lot of writers pretend they don’t care, i do. netflix has a huge worldwide platform and that’s great.”
