With parents who made sure she had whatever type of book she wanted, she developed a love of reading from an early age. however, her love of mystery was sparked when she was in tenth grade and she had to do an assignment on the novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles. It wasn’t long before she discovered Agatha Christie and Mary Higgins Clark. Growing up in Boston, she had always wanted to be a medical examiner and religiously watched the TV show Quincy Me. however, it wasn’t until much later that she realized that what she loved was the plot twists and turns and unraveling of the mystery and not the medical part of the show. she currently lives in cincinnati, ohio with her husband and her three children. when she’s not writing, she can be found reading, baking, knitting, watching a movie, or solving a puzzle with the family. she also loves watching reality shows, particularly anything that has to do with cooking competitions. The fact that she watches mystery television and reads mystery novels like janet evanovich have naturally influenced her writing style. Lucy Valentine’s paranormal mysteries have been greatly influenced by her fascination with psychics and paranormal television series such as I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched. however, although some of her novels involve some paranormal element, she states that since she started out writing romances and still loves the genre, aspects of both genres are present in most of her works. In addition to finding inspiration from television, news bytes are another important source that generates ideas that she then researches, spins, and embellishes into intriguing plots with the paranormal and romantic. research is an important part of the writing process for the series and she will always have multiple tabs open when she is writing. Heather is one of the most meticulous authors who makes sure that even the smallest details, like the names of the characters, fit perfectly. Some of her top sources for these include road names, baseball lists, and even genealogy search engines.

As for webber’s writing process, she says she doesn’t have a particular schedule to write a book. writing five days a week, she typically takes four to six months to complete a degree. since she writes titles simultaneously, she can produce about four titles in a year and has done so. she doesn’t have a particular process for the actual writing, as she literally skips the first half of the book and plots the second half before going back to do revisions to make sure it’s all a cohesive whole. she doesn’t bother with a character table either, preferring to edit character motivations and dispositions as she writes. however, even with all the setbacks of hers, she still manages to write some pretty intriguing narratives with every series she writes. Part of that has to do with the fact that Heather Webber is one of the new hybrid writers who self-publish and publish with traditional publishers. For the author, opting for self-publishing has given her many advantages over traditional media, as she can now extend her most beloved series indefinitely, which would not be the case with traditional publishing. still, her works are split down the middle with half being traditional releases and half as indie published titles.
