We know it can be hard to leave a favorite book or series behind, and that’s definitely the case with the magical rainbow universe! So what books might Daisy Meadows devotees enjoy next? we have selected some recommendations and you also shared your ideas…

You are reading: How many rainbow magic books are there

Rainbow Magic Fairies

There are currently 228 Rainbow Magic: The Fairy Tale Fairy Books by Daisy Meadows. so in truth, you may never run out of new ones to read!

but as lovely as eleanor the snow white fairy and tiana the toy fairy are, there may come a time when parents, caregivers, teachers and young readers themselves are ready to walk away from this magical world of sweet colors. . at least temporarily.

First of all, we need to figure out what makes the world of rainbow magic so appealing to (let’s face it, at least mostly) girls five and up. We know the power children have to see themselves in a book, which is why the call for diverse books is so important. With the magic of the rainbow, not only can girls find a fairy that looks a bit like them, but they can probably even find a fairy with their own or their friends’ names, and that will have something to do with the charm.

They are also very collectible and look beautiful and shiny on the shelf. When you’re just learning to read, the magical rainbow books are very accessible and fun to read at home, and you can probably boast of reading three or four books a week. apparently competitive rainbow magic reading is pretty big in year 2 and 3…so what other books could match?

Secret Princess; Princess Poppy

for those who want brilliant books for the same reading ability and similar topics

opt for rosie banks’ brilliant secret princesses series about two princesses who make dreams come true, starting with the magic necklace or the universe of her secret kingdom. You can also try the Princess Poppy books by Janey Louise Jones, illustrated by Samantha Chaffey.

for those who can afford to step away from the brightness and get closer to the animals…

Sammy the Shy Kitten

starts with something animalistic and a little sparkly too: holly webb’s magic molly series (you could try the witch’s kitten, for example). then you might be ready to move on to their animal stories, as sammy the shy kitty.

You can also try Zoe’s Rescue Zoo books by Amelia Cobb and Sophy Williams, and Linda Chapman’s Magic Star Friends series is lovely too. Or choose Helen Peters’ Sweet Jasmine adventure series, which begins with A Little Pig Named Truffle, a heartwarming story of a girl raising the youngest of a litter.

ready for something else? You could read Dick King Smith’s truly heavenly Sophie series, recently republished with illustrations by Hannah Shaw. then you can move on to other dick king smith classics like sheep pig.

for those who want something a bit similar for slightly older readers

for an expert recommendation…

We asked children’s book expert imogen russell williams for her advice on what to read after rainbow magic:

your suggestions

We had a lot of brilliant suggestions on social media. Thanks a lot! These are just some of the recommendations I had:

The Dragonsitter; Artemis Fowl; Charm School

  • children’s book consultant @jake_hope was quick on twitter with some fantastic suggestions: josh lacey’s dragonsitter stories (“witty and well done – offer humor and heart”), eoin colfer’s ‘daring, elegant and sophisticated’ artemis fowl series and anne fine’s ‘delightful’ school of charm (‘for subverting gender stereotypes’).
  • kate saunders books were popular with author alison brown, who tweeted: ‘leave the rainbow people behind and read the magical of kate saunders as eye opener of what fairies are really like! while you’re there, try whiz pop chocolate shop and curse of the chocolate phoenix, also by kate saunders, equally magical.
  • no there may be a better recommendation than what children have loved in school libraries! @alibrarylady suggested the wings & sally gardner’s coserie (‘an inspired choice’, according to jake) along with the amazing esme books by tamara mcfarlane and the spiderwick chronicles by holly black and tony diterlizzi . meanwhile, @tanyaefthymiou suggested tracey cordroy’s bubble bubble books will be a storm: ‘none on the shelf, all on loan!’

Dotty Detective, Mango and Bambang, Mariella Mystery

  • As school librarian @bookloverjo pointed out, fans of rainbow magic would like to read about more great women! ‘Kirsty and Rachel in the Rainbow Fairies are determined to defeat the elves. for more series with determined girls, i would recommend clara vulliamy’s dotty detective series, polly faber and clara vulliamy’s mango and bambang series, and mariella mystery strong> from kate pankhurst > series’.
  • we were so excited to find out what worked for her kids and @thebookishmummy topped it, telling us: ‘my daughter loves her rainbow fairies, a big part is sorting them and categorize them! we are now expanding to [enid blyton’s] amelia jane, kes gray’s daisy , the pamela butchart books, the tracey cordroy chapter books and the current best favorite Isadora Luna by Harriet Muncaster. so many great books! however, isn’t it?
  • More proven suggestions came from @traceyenright81, who explained that her daughter has now moved on to vivian french’s tiara club, of rosie banks . the i>secret kingdom and secret princess series, the roald dahl books, the classic winnie the witch stories and the magical animal books by – that’s right – daisy meadows. sometimes you just need more margaritas!

Anna Hibiscus, Trapdoor Mysteries, Nixie

  • we also got some great suggestions on facebook: gillian explained that her daughter loved atinuke’s ‘fabulous’ anna hibiscus books, while jessica praised lynne reid banks the fairy rebel: ‘definitely a setting and some darker themes but so wonderful!’
  • meanwhile, estelle endorsed the princess academy , and sherry-anne had some great ideas: the far away tree by enid blyton, the cat and the king by nick sharratt, and the princess in black by dean hale and Shannon Hale. strong> books.
  • do you still have room for a few more? oh go on then – the nosy publisher suggested the books rescue princesses, zoe’s rescue zoo and secret rescuers, while nixieby cas lester> the series was recommended by @tanyaefthymiou and @juliesykesbooks.
  • finally, @karenmccombie suggested the ‘lovely’ series tanglewood animal park by tamsyn murray. for animal lovers and abie longstaff’s trapdoor mysteries, while @bb_taylor_ had high praise for paula harrison’s stories: ‘a firm favorite in our house’. and we think that should keep it going for a while…
