about the warrior books:
erin hunter is the author of the acclaimed best-selling YA fantasy books for young adults called the warrior series. there are six books in total in the primary series. there are more than 80 books that tell the stories and adventures of a group of warrior cats. The series is published by Harper Collins and is written by the three authors, Cherith Baldry, Kate Cary and Tui T. Sutherland, as well as the publisher Victoria Holmes, who develops the history of the books. Harper Collins asked Victoria Holmes to develop a story about a group of wild cats.
holmes used classic themes of love, politics, war and religion and soon had enough material for a first novel. Harper Collins decided to greenlight a series of six books. all four use the collective pseudonym of erin hunter.

towards nature
into nature is the first novel in the warriors series. tells the story of wild cats whose ancestors passed down the tradition of sharing the forest between the four clans. The four clans are called the Shadow Clan, the Thunder Clan, the Wind Clan, and the River Clan. Clans live within the forest and by the water and pursue their own type of prey as well as having or learning special abilities relevant to their clan and territory.
The story follows a domestic cat who leaves his house to join the wild cats in the forest. he joins the thunderclan and is trained in their ways. however, the law and peace of the forest and ThunderClan may be threatened by the suspicious ShadowClan. the shadow clan grows more threatening every day. The fifth clan, the skyclan, was driven out due to the humans building on their home and finding shelter in the gorge, but they quickly disappeared.

Meanwhile, some of the respected noble warriors are dying and it’s up to the clans to stop it. The book begins with a fight between the ThunderClan and the RiverClan over a piece of land. cat redtail asks thunderclan to stand down. Once they have lost the battle, Spottedleaf, the tribe’s healer receives a prophecy from the spirit ancestors, StarClan. the ancients tell taintedleaf that only fire can save thunderclan.
bluestar, leader of the cats, says it will never be possible. All cats are terrified of fire. The novel also uses a combination of a cat English lexicon and human language that uses more cat-like works in a way that has been compared to Harry Potter and Brian Jacques’s Redwall series. The pseudonym Erin Hunter was chosen specifically for proximity to Jacques in a library, as they believed that fans of the Redwall series would also be open to the fantasy world of sentient animals in their own unique domain.
the language uses the word “two-legged” to refer to humans, “kittypet” to describe a cat that was neither wild nor feral, but owned by a human, and “meowed” or “purred” to refer to “said”, when the cats are talking. cats also name each other with two words, each describing the cat in terms of personality or appearance. rusty, who is a kittypet, meets graypaw of the thunderclan in his backyard and fights him instead of running away.
Two cats, Bluestar and Lionheart, watch the fight between Rusty and Graypaw and invite the domestic cat to join their clan. After another fight with a cat, Rusty gets his new name: Firepaw. Firepaw quickly becomes a feline friend of Graypaw and Ravenpaw, but is shocked when he discovers that Tigerpaw has killed the warrior Redtail and wants to be the leader of the clan. Tiger Claw plots to kill Crow to keep Red Tail’s murder a secret.
firepaw and graypaw lead ravenpaw to a safe area where he stays with a cat named barley. no one has detected that tiger claw is a traitor. But when ShadowClan moves to attack ThunderClan, Lionheart dies, and it’s more important than ever to expose Tigerclaw and defeat ShadowClan to keep ThunderClan intact.

fire and ice is the second novel in the warriors series. starts with firepaw and graypaw in vigil after being promoted to warrior. firepaw’s new name is fireheart and graypaw’s warrior name is graystripe. they then set out to help the wind clan who had been attacked and driven out by the shadow clan. the two warriors find the clan hiding under the “roads of thunder,” the wildcat term for human-built roads.
graystripe is assigned an apprentice, cinderpaw, and a cat named brackenpaw becomes fireheart’s new apprentice. Graystripe then falls into a pond after chasing a vole on the ice, but is rescued by a warrior from the RiverClan tribe named Silverstream. silverstream and graystripe fall in love, which violates the rules of the warrior code, but fireheart discovers her relationship and tries to persuade them to stop her without success.
greystreaks agree with a heart of fire to meet only with silver stream during the full moon and the meeting, where the four clans meet monthly to discuss problems. Fireheart discovers that Graystripe has been routinely breaking this promise and sneaking off to see Silverstream. Fireheart takes charge of graystripe’s apprentice’s training in addition to his own. Meanwhile, Tigerclaw has set a trap for Bluestar through the human-made Thunder Roads.
Instead of killing Bluestar and bringing Tigerclaw closer to being the leader of ThunderClan, Apprentice Cinderpaw is injured by the explosion. Cinderpaw learns that she will be disabled for life and therefore unable to be a warrior. She trains as a medicine woman, training with medicine woman Yellowfang. heart of fire is reunited with her sister, a kitten who lives with humans in a two-legged place. The princess gives Fireheart one of her kittens, called kits.
cloudkit is accepted into thunderclan as an apprentice. the rest of the clan is reluctant to accept cloudkit because he has domesticated blood. bluestar finally decides that cloudkit will stay and be part of the thunderclan. The Clan must be strong to fend off the attacks of Brokenstar, a rogue ShadowClan warrior intent on driving out ThunderClan for good. As clans collide and fur flies, Fireheart must find a way to keep the clan safe and try to expose Tigerclaw once and for all.
