Google Play used to allow direct independent author registrations, which allowed authors to publish e-books directly on Google’s platform. then google suddenly stopped allowing new accounts. however, they did open subscriptions periodically over the years. As of 2020, Google Play is now open for new authors and publishers.

In 2019, Google updated its policies and now requires that you have a direct relationship with the copyright holder (i.e. author or publisher). Since aggregators act as intermediaries for authors, this update has affected how aggregators handle e-book distribution.

step one: register a google play books partner center account

To publish e-books on Google Play, you’ll need a publisher account: sign up here.

once you’ve signed in to publishdrive, go to the google play signup page to start the process. complete the google play books registration request form linked within the platform (see below).

step two: fill out the publishingdrive internal form

once you have registered a publisher account on google play, return to the google play registration page within publishingdrive. then fill out the form provided with the same information you used when registering your account (see below).

This will help us link your future Google Play Publisher account to your PublisherDrive account, so make sure you fill out this form carefully.

step three: assign publidrive as account service provider

once you have a google play books partner account, you will need to assign apublishdrive as the account’s service provider. this complies with google’s updated policies regarding its relationship with copyright holders, while entrusting the publishing unit to handle all operational tasks on its behalf.
