jason bourne’s life before medusa and before the espionage operations was nice; he lived with his wife dao and his two children, joshua and alyssa in cambodia. however, his entire family died in a freak plane crash that left him with nothing and no one. This was what motivated him to join Medusa, an elite special forces unit that was covert in their operations and was looking for extremely skilled and talented units to train for their missions. he was trained there and is only known by his codename titled medusa, delta one.

Jason Bourne first became part of Medusa thanks to his good friend Alexander Conklin, who was a CIA agent at the time and had connections within Medusa’s operations. this was during the vietnam war, so medusa’s main goal was to kill important members of the vietnamese operations in north vietnam.
jason bourne, or delta one as he is called within operations at medusa, has a long and complex history involving his time there and the many atrocities he witnesses and is forced to commit for the good of his country. Most of what Medusa does is assassinations of high-ranking members of the Viet Cong, and through Jason Bourne’s many stories, more is learned about his involvement. Many of the mysteries of his involvement with Medusa are unraveled through reading the various novels, and some of the great suspense in the story comes from learning more and more about Jason Bourne’s past.

The first three books detailing the life and times of Jason Bourne have been made into movies in recent years. These three books were written by Robert Ludlum and are often referred to as the Bourne Trilogy.
However, after Robert Ludlum’s death in 2001, a new author stepped in to take over and continue writing stories about Jason Bourne and his operations on Medusa. this author is eric van lustbader, who has subsequently written another seven books about jason bourne, more than twice the number of books robert ludlum wrote about him.

1. identity – in the film version of this it is called the bourne identity, but the original novel is simply called identity. The story begins with Jason Bourne finding himself in the Mediterranean Sea, caught by an Italian fisherman. he regains consciousness and is confused about her whereabouts and his identity. the only thing that is really known about him is that he has two bullet wounds in his back; he has clearly been in some kind of violent struggle. The story involves Jason Bourne’s struggle to recover and understand his past and try to discover more about his own identity. One of the first plot points of this story is when he takes a woman hostage, Marie St. jacques, who helps her try to resolve his own identity. She and Bourne are shocked to discover that he is, in fact, a US killer. uu. government.
2. Supremacy: As with the film version of the identity, the film version of this novel is called Bourne Supremacy, while the original novel is simply Supremacy. the supremacy plot is much riskier than the first novel, and shows how far robert ludlum had come as a novelist in such a short time. On Supremacy, Jason Bourne’s De Facto Side Kick, Marie St. Jaques is kidnapped and Jason must fight to find her and save her from her kidnappers. but who was it? the story only gets more complicated as jason learns that if he really was a chinese drug lord, and if the fake jason bourne he is forced to find and murder is really going to be credited with the murders in china, then this could trigger a gigantic Chinese civil war. Jason Bourne must find Marie, he must find out who her kidnappers are and save her from them, all the while fighting an undercover agent who has masqueraded as him and is using the knowledge for dangerous missions that could cause a rift in the Far East so big. civil war could break out.
3. ultimatum -the third installment of the trilogy of horror and espionage by robert ludlum, ultimatum a serious villain from the series carlos el jackal decides that before he dies he must kill jason bourne. The men on his deathbed are often quite committed to his goals, and thus this creates a dangerous controversy that could end in Jason Bourne’s death. Not only this, but Carlos the Jackal has even bigger plans: destroying a KGB facility where he was originally trained all those years ago. Jason Bourne is forced to team up with the man who turned him into Medusa in the first place all those years ago, Alexander Conklin. Jason Bourne plans to intercept Carlos the Jackal at the KGB facility and face down with him to destroy him once and for all. Thus he will kill two birds with one stone: protecting himself from the threats of danger from Carlos the jackal, and at the same time stopping the trail of terror that he is leaving in his murderous path.

Following Robert Ludlum’s trilogy of novels, there is a series of additional books by Eric van Ludlum that continue to tell stories of the adventures and misadventures of Jason Bourne. while the style of the stories and writing is slightly different with the change of authors, the character that readers have come to know and love remains remarkably the same throughout. This is probably because Jason Bourne is such a realistic character that he is almost as if she has taken on a life of her own.
