Anyone who hasn’t heard of the famous series available on showtime about a serial killer named dexter is not on this planet. The incredible collection of books is conceptualized and written by Jeff Lindsay, who is Jeffry P. freundlich in real life.
Born in Miami on July 14, 1952, Jeff Lindsay has his life mapped out as an amateur Mormon apologist with engineering as his career. He finished college at Middlebury College in Vermont and would have happily gone through his peaceful and uncomplicated life. but the words continued to draw him until he could no longer ignore the clamor and gave in to the need to put his ideas on paper. he began associating with different writers, mainly his wife, to acclimate himself to the world of publishing until he developed such an incredible thirst and passion for writing about complicated crimes that he needed to do it on his own.

lindsay’s wife, hilary hemingway, is the niece of author and nobel prize winner ernest hemingway. She collaborated with Lindsay on her previous books and is an author with her own impressive works of her own.

what triggered it all
Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Which Started It All, was nominated for Best First Novel at the US Edgar Awards for Mystery Writers. However, it was eliminated from the nomination when the judges discovered that it was not, in fact, his first novel and that he has published other works written under his pseudonym, Jeffry P. lindsay.

darkly dreaming dexter is the opening story of the series and is about a man named dexter morgan. he appears to be a typical, attractive man who can be very nice. but beneath the guise of courtesy he shows the world is a very dark secret, one that compels him to kill. this character is defined by a past so dark and damaging that in his mind, crime is justified and outside the rules of normal society. saving grace is similar to the robinhood principle of robinhood, dexter only kills bad people. this trait endears him to his followers and provides a kind of salvation from his sins. Lindsay combined this amazing and provocative characterization with a perfect job of hero and villain rolled into one. Being a blood spatter expert and working for the Miami Police Department gives Dexter ample opportunity to feed his obsession. he has access to the records, the victims and the perpetrators.
In the sequel titled Dearly Dexter Dexter, a character fighting Dexter introduces himself as a police sergeant who has suspicions that Dexter is not what he appears to be. he does his best to outwit the sergeant by playing the role of devoted boyfriend to the end. Spending all of his free time with his girlfriend and his kids may have made his nemesis doubt his true personality, but Dexter doubts if he’ll be able to keep it for long or if his urge to kill eventually they will overcome his desire for security.
This story caters to the macabre nature of readers.

Evil is a part of his daily life, and as an investigator of gruesome crime scenes, Dexter can identify with the perpetrators of the crime, though he sees himself more in the light of an avenger. this is because the voice that whispers in his ear for him to kill also tells him that he has a good reason for doing so since he only kills the wicked. In the third story titled Dexter in the Dark, a sinister character battles for notoriety and provides Dexter with more questions than answers. Will he be able to differentiate between the deliberate and petty killing of the killer and his need to even the score for the victims?
In an effort to establish normalcy in his chaotic life, Dexter gets married and tries to establish a typical family life. he believed for a time that the demons within him were asleep if not dead. but the temptation to venture into murder is again driven by his need to punish the criminal and take justice into his own hands. In the fourth book, Dexter by Design, he takes on a brutal and scheming villain who took the time to parade his victim on a public beach in Miami. This criminal may be devious, but Dexter has a few tricks up his sleeve.
The happy days began when dexter had a daughter who seems to have lit a light in the dark corners of his soul and rid himself of the thirst for death. Being a serial killer didn’t exactly prepare him for middle-of-the-night diaper changes and lullabies to help his daughter sleep. nor did she give her any idea that his thousand watt smile can melt even the frozen regions of his heart. But then a strange new case crosses his path and stirs up old impulses. in dexter it is delicious, there is an excess of supernatural since vampires and cannibals came into play. Dexter faces the threat not only at his job, but also with the most valuable people in his life, his loving family.

lindsay currently lives in cape coral, florida with her family. she is capable of writing at least one book a year if she wakes up every day at 3 am and writes continuously until lunchtime. she then takes a short break and then goes back to writing after lunch. This is a grueling schedule that not all writers can keep up with, but Ella Lindsay says she keeps him focused on the job. her goal is to finish at least five pages a day in order to count the day as productive. he also narrates for his audiobooks, as it makes more sense for him to do so, since he is not only familiar with the story, but has it committed to his heart. Lindsay’s other project is for Marvel Comics, which is a comic book version of his Dexter series.
