Jennifer Donnelly is an American author of epic historical fiction for young adults, best known for the Tea Rose and Waterfire Saga series of novels. She has also written a variety of other stand-alone novels, including the hugely popular Northern Lights and a children’s picture book. Jennifer was born in Port Chester in upstate New York to parents of Irish descent. Her paternal grandparents first settled in Adirondack County, which is the setting of her first novel. donnelly grew up in westchester and lewis counties in upstate new york before attending the university of rochester to major in european history and english literature. She would later move to England, where she attended Birkbeck College, University of London. she currently lives in hudson valley, new york with her two rescued dogs, her daughter and her husband.

Upon his return to the United States, he moved to Brooklyn, New York and began work on his first work, an illustrated book titled Humble Pie, in collaboration with Stephen Gammell, a renowned veteran illustrator. She has won the Borders Original Voices Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Award, the Carnegie Medal, and the Printz Award.
