john lawton is basically a crime novel author. He has written a number of successful novels set in England during the time of World War II and the Cold War. His ‘Troy’ series of novels feature historical depictions and espionage. John is also a television show director and producer. Lawton was born in the year 1949 in England. He had a brief publishing career in London, after which he became a television producer on a newly opened London channel in the mid-1980s. Lawton left and settled in New York in 1993 where he completed his novel ‘black out’. he received the wh smith award for that book in 1995. after that, he returned to england and started producing tv shows until 1999. in 2001, he came back with a show called ‘riptide’ which was made by columbia pictures. He has constantly changed his residence from the United States, England and Italy. He was listed by the Daily Telegraph as one of the ’50 Crime Writers to Read Before You Die’. Since then, he has read novels in many places such as Toronto, Ottawa, Seattle and Portland and in 2010, he was named in the New York Times magazine’s “Choice of the Year” for one of his novels. Lawton had developed hobbies such as growing onions and varieties of potatoes. he also liked to grow leeks. Lawton’s close friends describe him as very absorbed in whatever he did.
lawton has worked with many prominent actors of his day, including neil simon and noam chomsky. he is the only director named in the parliamentary bill as an aggressor of good taste and balance in the british house of lords. he too has been denounced as a communist from the pulpit in mississippi. he has attended several writers associations throughout the 90’s and has spent his life working in more than half of the 50 states. Lawton has lived in the high, wet hills of Derbyshire since 2000 with frequent visits to the hills of Arizona and Italy. He has written many notable books and series of novels, such as the Troy series, Sweet Sunday, and 1963, which was an excerpt from the historical and political lives of Kennedy and Macmillan. Lawton’s novels have appeared in the New York Times and have been made into television shows. He has also edited the stories of Joseph Conrad and the poetry of DH Lawrence. Lawton is dedicated to the works of Cormac McCarthy, Barbara Gowdy, Franz Schubert, and Art Tatum.
the ‘troy’ series of crime novels has brought lawton great name and fame. described the character of the protagonist frederick troy in this series. frederick is a type of character who doesn’t like to be called by names other than his last name, troy. Troy is depicted as the youngest son of a Russian immigrant. his father becomes a wealthy newspaper publisher and baronet. Despite being rich and having all the luxuries in life, Troy defies the family’s expectations of him and joins Scotland Yard. he becomes an investigator in the department of a murder squad. The rights to the character of Troy were purchased by Columbia Pictures, who made television shows based on the plots of the books written by John Lawton. the troy series featured seven different novels full of excitement and enthusiasm. the first novel was titled ‘blackout’ and was published in 1995 by viking. It was Lawton’s first novel and was recently republished by Grove Press. the novel is an exciting war thriller with impressive action scenes. The novel’s excellent story helped Lawton cement his place on the list of top crime writers of his time. meaningfully captures the realities of wartime london. He has written a fascinating drama in this novel that sums up the uncertainty of Europe at the beginning of the post-war era.

During the time of the war in 1944, the Luftwaffe is storming Britain’s capital and the people of London are forced to run for their lives taking shelter where they can. the darkened city begins to face other problems as the panic subsides. a group of children discover a severed arm while playing near a bomb site. Detective Troy tries to investigate the discovery of the arm and manages to link the severed arm to the disappearance of a refugee scientist from Nazi Germany. America’s new intelligence agency, the OSS, gets in on the act. Troy comes from a high class lifestyle but is forced to leave London to investigate refugees and mysterious women in order to find the chain of secrets. The novel highlights the elegance and style of detective Troy and its suspenseful plot makes this novel an excellent thriller. It won an award for Lawton in the detective genre and launched his career as a novelist. The second novel in the series was published in 1996 by Viking and then by Grove Press. it was called “old loves” and represented the phase of the cold war of 1956 in england.
During this time, members of the Soviet Union are on an official visit to Britain. Troy is assigned to protection work for Khrushchev and Bulganin. Troy discovers the body of a Royal Navy diver and begins to investigate his death. He tries to link all the cases that have happened before him and begins to suspect Khrushchev of some kind of conspiracy against England. During the course of investigating him, he meets an old flame, Larissa Tosca, who is a former US Army officer and is currently serving Khrushchev. The diver’s body is suspected to be that of a furniture salesman named Arnold Cockerell or he may have faked his own death. Several murders take place wherever Troy goes to investigate and he begins to think of Cockerell as an agent or a spy. As the mystery of him deepens, Troy moves closer to solving the case and bringing the culprits to trial. the novel was appreciated as an exciting adventure of suspense and intrigue. Prominent writers felt that Lawton presented it brilliantly. he was believed to be full of wonderful thoughts and moments. readers liked the rich mix of traditional mayhem and political intrigue. john lawton’s description was compared to shakespeare’s likes.
