john scalzi is an american online writer and science fiction writer and is a former president of science fiction and fantasy writers of america and was born on may 10, 1969. he is well known for his blog wherever he has written on various types of topics daily since 1998 and his old war series and his three novels and have been nominated for the hugo award.
in 2008, john scalzi won the hugo award based mainly on that blog for the best fan-writer that he has used for various charity campaigns. In 2013, his novel Red Shirts won the Hugo Award for Best Novel. John Scalzi has written columns and non-fiction books on a variety of topics including video games, finance, astronomy, movies, and writing. he has also worked as a creative consultant for star-gate universe, which is a television series.

biography
john scalzi was born and spent his early childhood in california specifically in los angeles in the suburbs of glendora, covina and claremont. it is well on record that he was in high school with john marshall who is a noted blogger and they were both members of the class of the year 1987. they attended the webb – california schools and after that john scalzi went to the university of chicago , where he became a classmate of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Auburn. For a short time, Saul Bramido was John Scalzi’s thesis adviser, who left him when he later became a student ombudsman at the same university. He was editor-in-chief of the Chicago Maroon during his 1989-1990 school year.
john scalzi graduated in 1991 and was offered a job as a film critic for the fresno bee newspaper and later became a humor columnist. He was later hired as an in-house editor and writer at American Online in 1996 and together with his loving wife, Kristine Ann Blauser, they moved to Sterling-Virginia. He had married Kristine in 1995. In 1998 John was laid off and has been a full-time author and freelance writer ever since. Later, in 2001, John Scalzi, his wife Kristine, and Athena Marie, his daughter born in 1998, moved to Bradford, Ohio.

In 2010, John Scalzi was President of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and was the only nominee on the ballot. Previously, in 2007, John had applied as a write-in candidate, but was unsuccessful. His term came to an end in 2013 after deciding not to run again.

The Old Man’s War was John Scalzi’s first published novel. in the novel, seventy-five-year-old citizens of Earth are recruited and join the defense forces of human colonies in space. He noted unintended similarities to Robert A.’s Starship Troopers. heinlein. after debuting online, the novel was published. John Scalzi was able to serialize the book in December 2002 on his website and this later resulted in an offer from Patrick Nielsen Hayden, Senior Editor at Tor Books. The hardcover edition of the old man’s war was published in January 2005 and was nominated in March 2006 for the Hugo Award for Best Novel.
‘agent – to the stars’ was the second published novel by john scalzi. It was prepared in the year 1997 and in the year 1999 it was put online as a shareware novel by John Scalzi. The book was later released as free software in the year 2004. It was in July 2005 that the book became available as a limited, signed hardcover edition from Underground Press. in october 2008, it was first published in paperback by tor books.

the gost brigades, which is a sequence of the android dream and the old man war, was released in the year 2006. the android dream did not sell well compared to the old man war series because it relied heavily on of jokes about flatulence. John Scalzi was later awarded the John Campbell Award for Best New Writer in August 2006.
the last colony is the third novel set in the same universe and was released to the press in april 2007 and then was nominated for hugo – award for the best novel in the year 2008. the old man’s war fourth novel – the zoe’s story that presented different visions of the events that are dealt with in the last colony was later published in 2008 and in march 2009, it was again nominated for the hugo award for best novel. red shirts- novel with three – codas which is his book of the year 2012 won hugo – award for best novel of the year 2013.

John Scalzi has several non-fiction books, such as The Rough Guide to Money Online which was released to the public in October 2000 and featured various tips on using online financial tools. Others include The Rough Guide to Science Fiction Movies which was released to the public in October 2005 and the book covers science fiction movies and their history and lists fifty major fiction movies. the rough guide to the universe was published in may 2003 and was an astronomy book for intermediate and novice stargazers.

john scalzi started writing “whatever” in 1998, which is a more or less daily blog, and also registered his domain name scalzi.com. he has written about various topics on the blog, but writing and politics topics are common and he also uses whatever he can to solicit fiction and non-fiction submissions.
On March 29, 2007, John Scalzi became the first Campbell Award winner to be nominated for a Hugo Award in the category of Best Fan-Writer for his online writing in the field of science fiction. Later, in 2008, he won the Hugo Award for Best Amateur Writer and became the first person since 1970 to be nominated for both the Hugo Award and the Hugo Award for Best Novel at the same time.
