a grand old time introduces us to evie gallagher. she seriously regrets the decisions she made after being recently widowed. she is seventy-five years old and not yet dead, and her hasty transfer to a nursing home has her thinking about things.

her apprehension has to do with the fact that she met this fellow eddie on a beach just a few months ago on boxing day. Eddie has decided that he wants a bachelor party in Las Vegas, a long trip away from the British beaches.
The ladies decide a forever bachelorette party is necessary and make plans to go to Paris for a week. their scandalous escapades include attending racy cabarets, rubbing shoulders with millionaires over champagne in casinos, while living out their wildest dreams.
A week can be a lifetime and every woman comes home with dreams that are very different from those with which she traveled to Paris a few days ago.
