Juliet Blackwell (also known as Hailey Lind, also known as Julie Goodson Lawes) is an American writer. She is the daughter of a Yankee father and a Texan mother. Blackwell began her childhood life in Palo Alto, California. her family then opted to move to san francisco, which is an hour south of where they were initially. she indulges in her first pilfering activity, such as stealing apricots and walnuts from surrounding orchards, as a result of walking to and from kindergarten every day
the valley at the southern end of san francisco bay had become a hotbed of silicon semiconductors and orchards were disappearing by the time she graduated from high school. she later majored in latin american studies at the university of california, santa cruz. while at this school she had the best parties in every department. she preferred to read, learned Spanish, a little French, a little Vietnamese, and painted rather than earn money on computers. In addition to living in the United States, Blackwell has also lived in Spain and has managed to travel through Europe, Mexico and Central America. this has really given her a great time.
at new york university at albany, she studied and graduated with degrees in social work and anthropology. here, she managed to publish several non-fiction articles on immigration, as well as a book-sized translation. She studied the folklore, religions, and medical beliefs of people from all over the world, especially from Latin America, simply because she was fascinated with other cultural systems.

Under the pseudonym Hailey Lind, she and Ella’s sister Carolyn wrote the mystery series The Art Lover, which told about a former art forger trying to get straight by working as a fake finisher and muralist in San Francisco. this art feint was nominated for an agatha award.
