kelly irvin is the author of more than a dozen amish novels and specializes in writing inspirational and romantic suspense books. Born in Kansas, she attended the University of Kansas where she majored in journalism, and for more than 30 years, the author has been writing nonfiction novels, 10 of which she spends working on a news report. Kelly is married to her husband, Tim Irvin, a photographer. They live in San Antonio Texas with their two children, grandchildren and two cats. During her free time, Kelly likes to read books written by her favorite authors in the genre of romantic suspense and mystery, write short stories.

The novel begins when Emma Shirack’s father and mother’s light car is hit by the neighbor’s truck, Mr. Witnesses to these horrific accidents are Emma’s sister Katherine and Ella’s brother Luke Cramer, who saw their parents thrown from her stroller and killed just before them.

With the death of their parents, life changed for the worse, they almost lost their farm and had no one to take care of them. Emma’s older brother Luke and his family sold their property and moved in with her brothers.

Emma was already heartbroken and had not fully healed from her past. her boyfriend, carl freiling, had left the bliss creek amish community 4 years earlier, and she had no adequate information as to why she had left. She ever since swore that no one would break her heart and that she would never date again. Thomas Brennaman was the man who was interested in dating her after her wife died of cancer four years ago. he wanted to go out with her but her problems were that he always had trouble expressing himself and therefore all emma saw in him was a good friend.

now carl, the boyfriend who dumped her, comes back and begs emma to give him a second chance. Furthermore, fearing to lose in the game of love, Thomas finally decided to express her feelings to Emma. The whole novel is about accepting what her ex-boyfriend Carl did to her and who she decides to go out with in this love game.

love and cherish is well written; the baseline of the story is heartbreaking with the first few pages of the novel dealing with the death of the main character. It is a story of forgiveness and family relationships. the characters are so real, for example emma’s emotions are so touching and real that you can relate to people in real life.

She is dealing with the death of her parents and forgiving the man responsible is not an easy task for her. the author did a splendid job of allowing the characters to express their feelings in a way that connects with the readers. The romantic part of the novel reads very well, from Thomas to Carl.

A Heart Made New is the second book in the Bliss Creek Amish series by Kelly Irvin. In this book, Annie Shirack has always had a crush on David Plank since childhood.
