Mario Puzo was one of America’s best known authors who has written some very popular novels based on the crime fiction genre. the subject of most of his crime novels used to be the mafia. The most notable novel written by author Mario is titled as The Godfather, which was released in the year 1969. Author Mario later co-adapted the novel into a three-part film series of the same name. The movies were directed by well-known director Francis Ford Coppola. The first and second parts of the film series helped author Mario win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1972 and 1974, respectively. In addition to being a well-known novelist, Mario was also a popular journalist and screenwriter. He has also written the original screenplay for the Superman movie in the year 1978. The last book written by the author Mario was published posthumously in the year 2001. The author Mario was born as Mario Gianluigi Puzo in the neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen in the city of new York. He was born on October 15, 1920 and died on July 2, 1999 in West Bay Shore, New York, United States. Mario’s family was very poor and had emigrated from Pietradefusi, Campania, Italy.
Several books written by him describe the heritage of this place. After completing his graduation from City College, New York, author Mario joined the United States Air Force. Army to serve in World War II. he had poor eyesight so he was not allowed to perform combat duties. However, the military gave him the position of public relations officer and placed him in Germany. The first story written by the author Mario was published in 1950 under the title ‘The Last Christmas’. After the war ended, Mario wrote his first novel titled ‘The Dark Sands’, which was published in the year 1955. Author Mario used the pseudonym Mario Cleri to write the live-action World War II adventures. This suggestion encouraged him to continue and develop his most famous work, The Godfather.

Initially, several publishers rejected the book’s initial plot line. It was the editors of Putnam Publishing who heard some Mario stories without reading the story summary and immediately approved them. they also provided him with an advance that helped him continue with the huge project. Author Mario had heard some anecdotes about mafia organizations at the time of his stay in pulp journalism. In an interview with Larry King, author Mario said that the critical reception of the previous two books written by him without his monetary success made it a bigger problem. this helped him succeed in his next jobs and therefore he was able to support his 5 children with the salary of a government employee. At the time of writing The Godfather of Him, author Mario was looking for something that would appeal to the masses. He was able to do so as the novel became a number one New York Times bestseller and remained at the top for several months. Even the film adaptation of the novel was very successful, receiving a total of 11 Academy Award nominations and winning 3 of them. The success allowed author Mario and director Francis Coppola to collaborate on the film’s two sequels. Author Mario died of cardiac arrest at his home in Manor Lane, West Bay Shore, New York. He is now survived by members of his family who live in East Slip, New York.
