His main job is as a research scientist and he focuses on various but quite intractable problems in his field of artificial intelligence. mark lawrence has maintained a secret level clearance with us governments. uu. and united kingdom. although he was born in the united states, his parents moved to the united kingdom when he was still young. his main occupation is being a writer, novelist and scientific researcher. most of his works belong to the genre of fantasy. his first book was prince of thorns published by ace/ voyager in the year 2011, august. The book was a finalist for Best Fantasy 2011 in the Goodreads Choice Award, and has been in many other competitions as well. The Prince of Thorns book features a privileged royal child who was raised by a very loving mother. The privileged boy by the name of Jorg Ancrath later grows up to become the Prince of Thorns and very charming. that’s not enough as the boy is also immoral and leads a shadowy gang of outlaws in a series of raids and atrocities. it can be said that the group is a real thorn in people’s lives. the outlaw group throws the world into chaos as violence abounds and nightmares are everywhere. our young jorg has the abilities and skills to dominate both the living and the dead, although there is something that he still has to conquer and have some peace. the only thing that gives jorg a little chill is the return of his father’s castle. jorg has to face some horrors from his childhood memories and prepare for a future that seems to have turned against him. all this brutality was fueled from the early age of nine when he saw how his mother was killed along with his brother. Jorg knew from then on that the world was destined to be a brutal place. By the age of thirteen, he had already formed his gang of bloodthirsty thugs, and when he turns fifteen, Jorg wants to be king.

mark lawrence’s first novel tries to portray us a picture of stories of blood, anarchy and betrayal. the use of magic as well as brotherhood to fight for what you need in life. the book paints a compelling, brutal, and at times beautiful picture of an extraordinary boy who uses everything he can on his journey to adulthood and the throne. The thorns really gave Jorg a lesson in blood; from the caring person he was when he had a brother to a brutal and ruthless man. he has his gang of outlaws whom he calls brothers who are quick with knife and sword, and do evil however they please. the book is not for the faint-hearted and weak, but for those who can bear the brutality given in almost every scene. however, it is a book that will keep you turning from page to page.
mark lawrence’s second book is king of thorns which was published in august 2012 by ace/voyager and was also on several award nominations. In his continuing Broken Empire series, we have Mark Lawrence taking on his young Jorg, who is an anti-hero closer to his high ambition. Now, with his ruthless gang, Jorg will stop at nothing to get what he thinks is his, his father’s throne. however, to reach this greatness, he has to step on the bodies of his brothers and countrymen. Young Jorg doesn’t seem to care if the cost of gaining the throne might drown the world in blood. From the age of nine, Prince Jorg had sworn to avenge the slaughter of his mother and his brother and also to punish his father who did not avenge his deaths. He begins planning for him at the age of fifteen and at eighteen Jorg must fight for what he has taken using torture and betrayal. jorg, now as king, is haunted by the great pain of his past and the ghosts of the atrocities he has already committed. however, as he burns and is consumed with the need for revenge, there is an overwhelming enemy force marching towards his castle. Because Jorg knows that he cannot win the fight fairly, he finds solace in the long-hidden cache of some ancient artifacts some people refer to as magic. Although he is not sure about them, he is sure that the secret behind them can be of use to him in the inevitable battle.

jorg is willing to do anything to win the battle and playing fair is not an option. thus the land burns with fire as lords and kings fight for the broken empire. What drives the honorable prince Jorg Ancrath in his brutal battle has to do with revenge for the deaths of his mother and his brother. he will stop at nothing until he has avenged his death. he has already learned to play the game and will stop at nothing. As the army marches towards Jorg’s castle, everyone prays and wishes that Jorg would take this opportunity to unite the empire and help heal Jorg’s wounds. However, that could have happened if we had Jorg’s type; ours is different, and all that he carries in his blood is revenge.
