After the vet comes home, he begins to make a living working as a hit man while taking orders from a man called the Runner and which is the title of the first book in the series.
In the first book, The Broker, we meet Quarry, who is a hit man. we see the quarry killing a man using his gun. this happens in the men’s room at the airport. what could be the reason for this murder? we are told that the man shot had taken something from his employer and is about to escape. however, the quarry is unhappy with the drug killings and part ways with his broker, taking another broker job. In his second job, he is hired by a homosexual assassin named Boyd.
mainly, in this book, max collins concentrates on showing us all kinds of murders and nasty murders. The most amazing part of the story is that Quarry takes on other human beings as fools who otherwise don’t deserve to live. this is contrary to what we should expect of him. a man of his profession should not be like him.
In the second book in the series, The Runner’s Wife, which is then named Quarry List, we meet a professional fast and furious intruder who happens to be in the Quarry House. this happens a few months after the broker’s life came to an end. the quarry kills the first man to wake him up in the middle of the night and waits for the second to enter. the backup man who wants to get the information is questioned by the quarry, something that leads one into a confrontation with the broker’s lawyer; curtis creeks and ash. and who is ash? This is a man who was associated with Cantera when he started working for the broker in the early stages.
the quarry is a smart man and never neglects caution. Collins tells us that he never forgets; especially someone who wants to kill him. Quarry is also interested in tracking down all the people involved in the broker’s murder and those who want to take over the broker’s business. He is eager to find out why Ash stepped into the void left by the late broker. Was ash behind the death of his runner? Does he want to take over the business entirely? These are the questions Detective Quarry wants to get answers from him. he is very keen to make sure he knows the trick that was played on ash to make sure he doesn’t get blackmailed.
