margot theis raven america white table

have you heard of the white keepsake tables of america?

This tradition includes small dining tables placed specifically for POWs and mine.

no one sits at this table – it is a symbol of remembrance: “we pushed an empty chair to the table for the missing soldiers who they are not here”.

These tables are often set up at formal military dinners.

This book explains this tradition in a fictional story about a girl whose family makes one when her Uncle John (a Vietnam War veteran) comes over for dinner on Veterans Day.

many children will not know the tradition of the white table.

I imagine a lot of kids would go home and educate their parents on the white tables too.

I highly recommend this book to explain the sacrifices soldiers make (there is a story about uncle john as a prisoner of war and his friend mike) as well as the beautiful symbolic tradition of the white table.
