There are several categories of “rewards” that will be useful for learning:
- hostess rewards: usborne books & more generously offers rewards to hostesses with a qualifying party over $100. hostesses receive free books and half price for lodging. for example, a $100 party gives its hostess $10 in free books and $25 in half-price books. During the first 12 weeks of your incentive period, all parties with more than $250 in sales with a party reservation receive double the free books. once you’re out of your incentive period, there’s always a monthly hostess special that usually provides $50-100 worth of extra books for free. note: your double hostess rewards are always better than the monthly special offer. visit your back office, consultant toolbox to see the reward table.
- $50 Bonus Books at 65% Off – Plus, when closing out a party, you’ll pick up your hostess rewards at the Back Office and have the opportunity to order $50 worth of books at 65% off. % off. this means you pay 35% of the retail price, which would be $17.50 for $50 in books. you can use these bonus books however you want. you can offer an extra book to your hostess as a booking incentive. You can offer an extra $10 for free if they have 25 guests who “come” to their Facebook party. you can use the entire $50 to stock up on prizes for your party guests. you have a lot of freedom to create promotions that work for you. Please note that you are still paying 35% of the cost out of pocket.
- Rewards: Your customers will come to your parties because you make them fun. What’s more fun than a prize or a raffle? this is certainly not required, but it definitely adds some excitement to the party. You also need to make sure your gifting strategy is profitable. Let’s talk about how to maximize the rewards provided by the home office so that your out-of-pocket expense is minimal. Here are some of my typical giveaways and prizes:
- Party Prize: I usually give at least one prize to a customer for participating in the party. I usually mail a sample set of animal doodles. these come in a set of 50 for $9.99 and I can split them into packs of 5-10 cards and get some prizes from each pack. They fit in a 5×7 envelope and can be mailed with just 2 stamps. the mini books are also a good prize. they range from $1.99-$3.99 each and are light enough that shipping isn’t a pain. if my client is local, I could take a book from my inventory and deliver it personally. you could do this with the books that come with your kit.
- hostess award: When a hostess agrees to throw a party with me, I offer her a prize. I usually use the $50 bonus book category when I’m closing her party to send her prize with her hostess rewards. this saves me postage and the time it takes to package and mail an award.

bonus tip from becky: like usborne books & more consultant, also receive hostess rewards. Make sure you always have an “open” party so you can start racking up hostess rewards on small orders and orders placed outside of a party. make sure to close your party before your first 12 weeks in business are up so you can take advantage of those double hostess rewards!
