richard laymon was one of the most renowned authors in america, who stood out for writing his books based on the suspense and horror genres. he was also known for writing novels based on the splatter punk subgenre. Author Laymon’s writings were full of sex and violence, and were believed to be unsuitable for readers with the faint of heart. Despite being American, Laymon’s books sold very well in most of the UK. In addition to writing solo, Laymon also collaborated with a few other prominent authors of his day in writing historical fiction books. He used to use the collective pseudonym of Lee Davis Willoughby to write such books. Author Laymon began his writing career in 1980 with the release of his first book titled The Cellar. The last novel written by him was published posthumously in 2005. The author Laymon was born Richard Carl Laymon on January 14, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. his death occurred on February 14, 2001 due to a massive heart attack. now the only members of his family left behind him are his wife named ann and a daughter named kelly. Laymon was raised primarily in and around Chicago. During his teenage years, he used to live in Tiburon, California. Author Laymon completed his high school graduation from Redwood High School. This was followed by a BA in English Literature from Willamette University, located in Oregon. Laymon later completed his master’s degree in the same subject at Loyola University in Los Angeles.

author laymon’s writing career includes more than 60 short stories and around 30 novels. He published some of the novels and short stories under the pseudonym Richard Kelly. as many as 20 of his short stories were published as part of the ‘fastback mystery’ series. this series consisted of individual stories that were published in book form. Despite receiving praise from other prominent authors in the genre, such as Dean Koontz and Stephen King, author Laymon was not well known in his homeland. rather, he enjoyed much more success throughout Europe. In the later parts of his writing career, Laymon became affiliated with leisure books. The author Laymon opined that his affiliation was due to poor editing of his first release, from which over 50 pages were removed. Laymon’s career suffered a decline after the tremendous success of his novel The Cellar due to unattractive cover art and poor editing. The original version of his novel ‘The Woods Are Dark’ was eventually released in 2008 by Leisure Publishing after it was pieced together by his Laymon’s daughter Kelly. one of his novels entitled meat received the award for best horror in 1988 for science fiction chronicle. Laymon’s novels Funland and Flesh had received nominations for the prestigious Bram Stoker Prize. Laymon won this award posthumously for one of his other books. An anthology of short stories and essays known as In Laymon’s Terms, were published by Cemetery Publications. It included contributions from notable authors such as Jack Ketchum, Edward Lee, Bentley Little, and Gary Brandner.

one of the first books written by richard laymon is titled ‘the traveling vampire show’. Leisure Books published it in the year 2000. At the beginning of the book, author Laymon has shown that throughout the city of Grandville, flyers showing the upcoming vampire show were nailed to trees, utility poles, storefronts, and sidewalks. The show is said to feature Valeria, who is the only female vampire known to be in captivity. The flyers describe Valeria as a dazzlingly gorgeous beauty. During the performance, she will stalk the volunteers and sink her teeth into their necks to drink blood. three teenagers who saw the flyers do not want to miss the show at all costs. but it looks like they may be facing a lot of obstacles that would cost them the show. one of the problems is that no one under the age of 18 can enter the show. The teenagers, Rusty, Slim and Dwight are approaching 16. One more problem is that the show is scheduled to start at midnight and they were not allowed to leave the house at that time. but, the biggest problem of all is that the show takes place in the janks field, a patch known to have a bad history. Due to this, parents do not find it safe enough to send their children there. Since the teens think they will certainly miss the show, they plan to visit Janks’ field during the day to catch a glimpse of the team’s preparations. They hope to see Valeria practicing for the show. among the three friends, dwight is an honest and solid guy. he uses his common sense and is loyal to the other two. rusty seems to be a bit stocky, enjoying trouble. while slim is a brave girl who likes to read novels. the novel shows the story of friendship, love, temptations and betrayal.

another interesting novel written by laymon is called the midnight tour. was released in 2007, after first being published in 1998. The author Laymon has described the story of a beast house in this book, which is visited by tourists all the time. tourists seem eager to visit the infamous sites of the many atrocities and hear tales of the beasts believed to roam the halls of the house. tourists can listen to the audio on headphones as they move through different rooms of the house. they can also see the recreated corpses that look realistic. however, the tours only provide the sanitized versions of the best house horrors in audio form. the house consists of some strange facts that seem very scary to normal thrill seekers. if tourists want to hear the whole story, they should take the “midnight tour”. the tour is believed to be very special and strictly limited to just 13 brave visitors. as the tour starts at midnight, it is believed that visitors could die before the tour is over. Just like the previous books by author Laymon, this one too became very popular and helped Laymon further increase his popularity. received wide acclaim from everyone and critics appreciated his efforts.
