tamar myers was born and raised in the congo. his mother and his father were missionaries to a tribe of headhunters. at the time, his family was the only non-native family living with the tribe, giving tamar the unique experience of living in a desert. life in nature had the dangers of it; ella tamar she was forced to wade through crocodile-populated waters to reach the school she attended at the time, cobras and man-eating ants were also part of the village landscape. During her college days, Tamar started submitting papers for publication, but it took her a long time to get published, twenty-three years. His perseverance finally paid off when his first novel, Too Many Thieves Spoil the Broth, was accepted for print in 1993.
As an author, Tamar is best known for the mystery series: Pennsylvania Dutch Mystery and Den of Antiquity Mystery. all her books are full of eccentric characters and enriched with a tasty selection of original recipes.
The first book in the Pennsylvania Dutch mystery series called Too Many Thieves Spoil the Broth is his most famous work. In the book, Tamar Myers writes about Magdalena Yoder, a practical Mennonite who owns the retro Penndutch Inn. Magdalena manages to turn a quiet family farm into a popular lodge for sophisticated people with a desire for authenticity and Amish hospitality. Since the hostel is quite popular, Magdalena can spend her time in the company of a friendly group of guests. later, a secret guest is found dead after falling down the steep cupcake stairs. everyone believes the fall was an accident and life in the house continues as it was. Magdalena goes to great lengths to mediate issues between Ella’s headstrong Amish cook and the fussy vegetarians who dine at the restaurant. Since her kitchen is a battlefield between culinary lifestyles, Magdalena lets her guests cook. then, another death happens, this time people begin to suspect that the deaths were not accidental. all guests of the inn are under suspicion, including cupcake yoder herself.
in the second book of the pennsylvania dutch mystery series, tamar myers continues to write about cupcake yoder. This time, a film crew arrives at his inn willing to use the location and make a movie about the murders that occurred in Magdalena’s guest house. Unfortunately, the assistant director turns up dead and Magdalena is in trouble again.

The first book in the series is The Witch Doctor’s Wife, a story of duty, greed, danger, and wonder in equatorial Africa. The story is set in the Congo in 1958, when beautiful young Amanda Brown follows her missionary duty to the mysterious “Dark Continent” far from her home in South Carolina. Amanda’s innate enthusiasm cannot protect her from the realities of foreign culture: overpopulation, poverty, and the greed of oppressive European officials eager to strip the earth of its most valuable resource: precious stones. Little by little, Amanda comes to know and respect the local witch doctor, a man known as the Death of Him, who has been forced to take a second job as a machinist to support his two wives.
