tom clancy, born April 12, 1947, was a successful American novelist and game designer popularly known for his well-crafted plots of military science and espionage set after and during the cold war. Clancy was born in Maryland and spent his childhood in the Northwood neighborhood. His father, Thomas Clancy, got a job with the United States Postal Service while his mother, Catherine Clancy, worked at a local store. In 1969, he graduated from Loyola University with a bachelor’s degree in English literature.
