“the chest of hope” is the second standalone novel and was published in the year 2017. finding the chest of hope relic of a woman reveals some precious memories and helps three people who have lost a part of themselves to find a little joy once more.

Mattie, fiercely independent, hasn’t felt like herself since her diagnosis. she can’t take a boat ride, she can’t navigate her beloved home and she can barely feed herself. Don, her devoted husband, doesn’t even want to imagine life without her wife of almost fifty years, yet she likely won’t survive much past her anniversary.

Fans of the novel found it to be a harrowing, breathtaking and beautiful read that made their hearts sing and ache in different places. learning more about the lives of don and mattie was very moving and makes you fall in love with each of them as you read. wade does a great job of getting you emotionally invested in all of his characters in this one, and some had a hard time putting this one down until they finished each part.
“The Recipe Box” is the third stand-alone novel and was published in 2018. samantha “sam mullins felt like she was trapped in her family’s vegetable garden and bakery growing up in northern michigan, so she became it was with his dreams of leaving his own mark on the world. Her life as an underrated and overworked sous chef in a reality star’s New York bakery is not at all what she had planned for herself.
chef embarrasses sam, she quits and goes home. Defeated, unemployed and single, she spends the summer working in her family’s garden baking and cooking with the women in her life. This includes her grandmother, Willo, and her mother, Deana. a recipe sprinkled with flour, beloved and inky at the same time, she begins to understand and learn about the women in her life, the history of her family and her passion for food through the precious her recipe box.
As Sam learns what matters most, she opens her heart to a boy she left behind, but who may now be the key to her happiness.
This is a delightful read that is filled with food, love, and family. readers enjoyed all the recipes and felt like they could actually smell some of the delicious food just by reading this wonderful novel. it’s a sweet and moving read that reminded some of their youth. readers enjoyed reading this from start to finish. wade also does a beautiful job of describing summers near lake michigan.
