Coleman, then only 27 years old, was honored by ebony magazine as one of the 100 most influential African-Americans despite his relative youth.

After starting out on their own, Ashley and Jaquavi decided to collaborate to write their first novel, Dirty Money, which they claimed took only three weeks to write. they said it was very easy for them because they were working together and it was very much based on the experiences they had encountered in their lives. Jaquavis is proud of the fact that he survived a difficult upbringing and is able to count the tables in a kind of fictional way, although he says that his inspiration is largely based on reality.
