fiction books
A rainbow of your own is the first title I’m going to share with you. Have you ever imagined what it would be like to sit on a rainbow? Join this child as he imagines what it would be like to have his very own rainbow and all the fun things to do with it. This is the perfect book to put your students’ imaginations to work and then have them draw a colorful picture to explain their thoughts.
Raining a Chance of Meatballs is one of my favorite books to share with my students. It’s such a fun book that can be used with preschoolers, pre-k students, or kindergarteners. they really enjoy using their imaginations to think of food falling from the sky and as the sky gets angrier the food gets bigger and more violent. After this book, I love doing drawing and writing activities to see what kind of food climate you want to see happen!
Freddy the Frog Shooter is written by a meteorologist. it’s a lot of fun, and your students will learn how to predict the weather. Freddy is the best weatherman in town, but he may have missed a storm. The town picnic is about to rain, but Freddy is going to save the day!
how crayons saved the rainbow is a beautiful story about friendship and determination. the sun and the clouds are best friends, but they argue and will no longer share the sky. that means no rainbow, and the color begins to slowly fade from the ground. a little box of crayons must save the rainbows!

little cloud is a great story to learn about clouds and friendship from beloved author eric carle. this little cloud likes to do its own thing, so it usually stays down while the other clouds go up. one day, he decides that he wants to stay with his friends, so they come together to form a big cloud! So, they decide to rain!

clouds is a beautifully illustrated nonfiction text that teaches students how to forecast the weather by looking for changes in clouds. This book provides so much fun information that your students will be talking about for months. You’ll hear them talk about the forecast on the playground and pay more attention to the sky and clouds. what a fun resource!

weather by national geographics kids has amazing photos that will pique the interest of your little students. the text is simple but explains typical weather conditions that students may have heard of.
