Gary was born into an extended family and has a couple of brothers. Her father, Oscar Paulsen, was an Army officer who had served during World War II. Due to his father’s domestic duties, Gary was unable to see him until the age of 7. her upbringing was mainly in the hands of her aunts, grandmother and various relatives. when he was 7 years old, he and his mother went to the philippines to be with his father and stayed there for a couple of years. After moving back to Minnesota, Gary ran away from his house and joined a carnival when he was 14.

It all started when a librarian gave her a novel along with his library card to read. he was so moved by the book that he began spending long hours alone in the basement of his apartment and reading various books. when he ran away from his house and joined a carnival, he started traveling to different places with the group. this helped him develop a taste for adventure. After that, he began to dedicate himself to different activities such as doing rigorous tasks on the farms during a youthful summer, working as a bricklayer, engineer, truck driver, ranch hand, sailor. He also participated in the 1,180-mile dog race in Alaska for two rounds. These activities allowed author Gary Paulsen to have plenty of sources from which he could develop interesting stories. he to date lives happily with his beloved wife named ruth paulsen in his house located in new mexico. ruth is a professional artist and works as an illustrator for some of gary’s books. the couple often divided their time between staying home together and sailing the pacific.

During his writing career, author Gary Paulsen has written a total of 5 series of novels, all of them quite successful. one of them is the series of novels ‘the saga of brian’, which consists of a total of 5 books. They were published between 1986 and 2003. The first novel in the series of Brian’s saga was published by the publishing house Atheneum Books in 1986. It was titled ‘Axe’. The plot of this novel takes place in Canada and describes the life story of the main character named Brian Robenson. The second novel in the series was published under the title ‘the river’. It was published by Laurel Leaf Library in 1991. This novel describes the life of the main character named Brian Robenson two years before the first novel. The first line of the novel’s plot says, “We want you to do that again,” which seems to change Brian Robenson’s life. Two years earlier, he was involved in a plane crash and left stranded alone in the Canadian desert. he had to struggle for 54 days and came out alive with the help of his instincts and a small axe. after surviving those difficult days, the brain hopes to never meet them again. but the government asked him to go back to the desert and perform his survival tasks again so that he can help the military and astronauts learn their survival techniques and use them in difficult situations. however, this time he will not go alone. A government psychologist named Derek Holtzer will accompany you into the desert. He will observe Brian’s survival techniques, take notes and report back to the government. During the task, they get caught in a freak storm due to which Derek is struck by lightning, causing him to fall into a coma. even the radio transmitter of it turns dead. seeing derek brian’s condition freaks out. he realizes that he needs to get him to a doctor or else he will die of dehydration. his only hope lies in building a raft and ferrying it to a trading post 100 miles downriver. Brian hopes the map is accurate enough to help them locate the trading post to save Derek Holtzer’s life.
