a knight of the seven kingdoms, also known as the dunk and egg prequels: this book consolidates three previously published tales about the Adventures of Dunk (future Commander of the Royal Guard, Ser Duncan the Tall) and Egg (future King Aegon v Targaryen) and are set approximately 90 years before the events of the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
- the wandering knight. Originally published in the 1998 Legends anthology, it is currently available for purchase separately only in its graphic novel format.
- The Sworn Sword. Originally published in the 2003 Legends II anthology, it can also be purchased separately in graphic novel format only.
- The Mysterious Knight. published in 2010 in the cross-genre anthology Warriors. it cannot be purchased separately at this time in any format, although random house previously announced plans to produce the graphic novel version of the novel nearly two years ago.

Novels: are essentially excerpts from chapters and were published in magazines, either before or immediately after the release of your book publication. If you’ve read all the books, you’ve probably seen these writings in an updated format, but I’ve included them for completeness.
- Blood of the Dragon, published in July 1996 in asimov’s science fiction, the novel would appear the following month as a daenerys chapter in game of thrones.
- path of the dragon, published in december 2000, in asimov’s science fiction, this novel is based on a chapter of daenerys that had been published in a storm of swords that year.
- arms of the kraken, published in August 2002 in dragon magazine, this novel would later become the iron islands chapters of a feast for crows that introduce the kingsmoot.
The Ice Dragon: A short story originally published in 1980, it reads like a fairy tale to the world and is generally accepted as canon (but this is disputed by some).
winds of winter chapters: ever since a dance with dragons was released, fans have been wondering when the next book will be published. - the icelands & fire. this is actually a collection of 12 poster-sized maps. in the same vein as the history book, it features depictions of cities and places not yet covered in the books. It has been emphasized that the maps included here do not represent the entire world and do not claim to be perfect, but are more like representations of the world known to the maesters.
- game of thrones graphic novels. four graphic novel volumes, each consisting of six comics, adapting the story from the first book in the series. They offer no new information, but do feature a foreword by grrm, as well as comments from its long-time editor, Anne Groell.
