I’ve spent the last few days putting together some of the best tips on how to cover a school book. I’ve also added some extra tips to make your workbooks unique to you.

Let’s get the cover of the hardest school book out of the way first, okay? Many of us know that hardcover books tend to be the hardest books to cover, and if you’re worried about getting it right, we’ve put together a step-by-step process to make it easier for you.

step 1: cut the paper to size.

Place your book against the paper of your choice to determine how much wrapping paper you will need, leaving about 4 cm of excess paper around the school book.

Top Tip: Save time by pre-cutting all of your book cover paper. be sure to check the paper size is correct before cutting the rest of your book covers.

Step 2: Lift the middle of the book at an angle to make sure it can be closed easily.

It’s often easier to have an extra set of hands holding the cover while you work. if no one is around, use pegs to temporarily secure the cover of the schoolbook.

Cut the paper in a v-shape at each corner to make sure to reduce excess paper around the edges. also, cut off excess paper near the spine of the book.

Step 5: Cut the masking tape and use it to stick the cover to the book.

Top tip: Granite or plastic countertops work best for holding pre-cut pieces of tape. Placing pre-cut pieces of tape on painted or varnished countertops can cause the paint or varnish to peel. if you don’t have these countertops, use a plastic container instead.
