jane austen (1775 – 1817), the beloved British author, was deeply involved in her craft as a creator of words. her talent was recognized from the beginning and valued by her family.

Jane’s father, a country chancellor, and her brothers played a key role in publishing her works at a time when it was considered unseemly for women to present themselves in business.
