katrina elizabeth dicamilio was born on March 25, 1964. She is an American writer who specializes primarily in fiction books for children of all ages and levels. she is among six people who received two newberry medals, and two of her novels were recognized, the tale of despareux and flora and ulysses. Kate is widely known for the Mercy Watson series, which has been illustrated by Chris Van Dusen. Elizabeth was at one point appointed by the Library of Congress to serve as the United States National Assembly’s Ambassador for Children’s Literature in 2014 and 2015.

born in philadelphia, kate dicammilio battled chronic pneumonia from a young age. at age 5, kate moved to clermot, florida, along with her brother, who would later become an accomplished architect, and her mother, as the climate was much warmer and would help kate get better . kate’s mother was a teacher, while her father, an orthodontist, remained in philadelphia to continue running her clinic. Dicamilio joined the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated in 1987 with a BA in English. She worked in Florida before graduating.

At the age of 30, he moved to Minneapolis where he began working in a book store. Her job at her bookstore inspired her to start writing children’s books. This job also allowed her to meet with a sales representative from Candlewick Press, who helped her send out the first draft of it. this draft would later become the one due to winn-dixx. The following year, she won the same award again with the book series Flora and Ulysses. She is among six writers to have won the awards twice since it was presented in 1922. In 2000, she won the Jossette Franklin Award for her novel Just Because and in 2006 she won the Boston Globe Horn Book Award. in the children’s fiction category with the book the miraculous journey of edward tulane. In 2011, Kate, along with Ella co-writer Alison McGhee and illustrator Tony Fucile, received the Theodore Seuss Geisel Medal for the book Blink and Gollie.

In 2011, Winn Dixie was ranked 30th among children’s novels of all time. This survey was published in a survey conducted by the School Library Journal, which is a monthly publication for audiences in the United States. Other books that made the top 100 list include Edward Tulane, which was ranked 59th, and Despereux, which was ranked 51st. bink and gollie: two for one

In this installment, best friends Bink and Gollie decide to get a taste of state fair glory. As we have seen in the previous installment, Bink and Gollie are opposites that complement each other. bink is a bundle of enthusiasm, while gollie is not only taller but also very sophisticated. the well-drawn illustrations are not only luxurious, but also match the energy of the main characters. each of the stories in this installment is a complete story rather than a chapter within a larger story. The first story in this installment is whack a duck, which is preceded by the story of the roller skating girls looking at the billboards.

bink wants to know if gollie is okay with the two of them going to the state fair. Inside the state fair, Bink decides to enter the Whack a Duck competition. bink is a completely electrical energy and fails to launch the ball. when trying, he fails to hit the target. he tries again and again, but he doesn’t hit the mark. the second story of this book is that you are special, right? it begins with the two girls looking at a poster for an amateur show. golllie gets excited and decides that she will participate in the show. she quickly affirms her yearnings, even when she is reminded that she was going to have to stand in front of an audience. Later, Gollie waits for her turn to perform while Ella Bink’s friend sits next to the judges as she watches the other contestants onstage. two for one is an excellent read.

bink and gollie; best friends forever

In the third book in Kate Dicamilio’s series, Bink and Gollie are extremely true to their original form. bink is stubborn as ever while gollie is superior as ever. the best thing about these character traits is that they make for a great story. In the first story, Gollie comes across a picture of her great-aunt in which she has a crown. Ever since he was young, Gollie has always suspected he belonged to the royal family and hearing is all the proof he needs. The second story in this book talks about Bink’s desire to be tall. her attention is caught by an advertisement for a device that somewhat resembles the medieval torture rack, the stretch-o-matic device.

as expected, the results do not go as planned. however, bink finds another way to be satisfied with her purchase. The last story in this book has Bink looking for a collectible. Inspired by the arcana of the extraordinary, the two girls attempt to put their photos and names on the heavy thome. towards the end, they succeed, but not in the way most readers would have hoped. As in all other books, Tony Fuclie’s illustrations are outstanding and in Best Friends Forever, they are extremely strong.
