Some readers may find some of the children’s literature clichés that litter this book less than appealing, including the handsome boyfriend who has everything in common with Weezie, fervently pursuing her even as she clearly hides a dark and mysterious past.
The fact that the real mystery of the novel is at best a subplot, discarded in favor of romance, might also irritate some readers further. And while Mary Kay strives to create three-dimensional characters, many of her backstories are largely irrelevant, the time she spends exploring her personal demons and conflicts adds nothing to the story.

Bebe, despite her portrayal as an airheaded idiot, is a smart and successful woman who must overcome a wrong turn she took in life; her life is quite an interesting but funny story.
It’s true that Andrews spends too much time portraying Bebe as the airheaded idiot she is not, so much so that some readers have admitted not only not seeing the shrewd businesswoman in her, but also losing sympathy for her plight. . savannah blues will keep readers glued to the page.
